I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

Maybe We Should Kill Defective Babies...?

July 3rd 2008 03:16
The links below are to a series of birth defects, any one of which could provide the excuse for "terminating the pregnancy" or, more accurately, killing the baby. In my family alone, we have relatives with several of these problems. I have two of them, myself and my daughter has one. No, I'm not going to tell you which ones. Suffice to say that either one of us could have been killed because of the fact that we were imperfect. When I was born, abortion was not legal (lucky for me!) and when my daughter was born, I refused to even consider it! She did have a series of surgeries with little chance of success before she was one year old. Although the memories of her previous medical condition remain, she is doing very, very well and is as normal and healthy as anyone who was born that way.

Anyone who would kill an imperfect child is very far from perfect themselves... inside, where it really counts. What's wrong with women who kill their babies because of physical imperfections? Is it the "movie star image" they want for themselves and their children? Is it that a child with a deformity or defect might be too much trouble? Or are they so insecure in who they are, they fear being labeled as the mother of an imperfect child? People can still amaze me, even at my age. Sometimes the amazement is good, sometimes it's not. In cases of birth defects, its not the babies who are defective, it's usually the parents.

Hey S.L. I agree with you 100%, abortion is not for the child it's because of the parents, they are the ones with the problem.

Do you label everything in life S.L.? I can imagine walking into your home, and seeing little sticky notes on everything from the fridge to your socks. The problem I have with labels is that when it comes to human’s it’s very hard to find one label that can be applied to all.

Personally, if a parent doesn’t want to bring a child into the world that isn’t going to have the best chance at survival that’s their choice. If another parent, is willing to support that child until, they pass away that’s fine too.

But it is the parent’s choice, what is right for you isn’t right for all and vice versa.

Perhaps had you given birth to a dozen more, or less children your views would be different. And besides S.L. who is to say that a mother who has an abortion is any worse than the mother who disowns a child after they are born, simply because they have done wrong? Children learn from their parents, any failings in a child, are obviously a reflection of the mothers/fathers own shortfalls- the parents who love and support their children through the good and bad are the only ones that deserve to be called ‘parents’…

It's always best to have a clue of what you're saying before opening your mouth, alt_ed. You obviously don't. Kindly display your vast ignorance somewhere else. Perhaps in 30 or 40 years, when you have lived a little more and hopefully learned something, your opinions of others will hold a little water. At this point they don't. You can spew your canned "pro-choice" rhetoric until you're blue in the face, but your ignorance still shines through.

S.L. I can appreciate that with age comes wisdom, but if all in the world were old what would wisdom be? Sometimes, a younger point of view can provide equal worth, and dismissing something on the basis of age alone is pure discrimination... Something I can see you're rather fond of!

Even your youthful ignorance will someday change to maturity... maybe... alt_ed. You're wasting my time with it right now, however.
