I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

$4.00 Wake-Up Call

July 26th 2008 16:10
Now that the price at the pumps is beginning to creep down a little, we can all consider breathing a small sigh of relief. But no relaxing just yet. The oil prices are doing more than irritate, annoy, and bankrupt us now, folks. They are causing a thought process to kick in that has long been sleeping. As the American people yawn and stretch and begin to open their eyes, there will be plenty of voices telling them that the last several years have been a nightmare that can end at the ballot box if they want it to.

The "environmentalist" nightmare began several years ago, after Al Gore lost his bid for the presidency. (It was a small group of loonies before that, but he got the momentum going!)
If he'd believed 10% of his own foolish rhetoric, he'd have done something, anything as Vice President, don't ya think? But he waited until his political career was in ruins and reinvented himself, magically turning into an "environmentalist", author, movie star and Nobel Prize winner. After all, even his enormous tobacco profits won't support his lavish lifestyle and being a slumlord wasn't very profitable, either.

Now that everyone is getting sick of the high gas prices, they're starting to re-think their "green" position and pay attention to a few hundred facts that have been systematically ignored for several years. Check the three links below to see what real peopple think about the situation. You might find them interesting!

Hey S.L. the chicken littles like Al gore and the glo-bull warming crowd has caused a lot of what going on right now. But I am glad to see the America people start to wake up, and start asking question and voicing their opinions.

But Congress doesn't listen to the voters, look at their approval rating 9% at least Bush's approval rating is three times greater.

I hope when the election comes so does new faces in Congress. Cowards like Harry Reid, and Nancy Pelosi refuse to let any debate on oil drilling, hoping to get out of town without voters realizing it.

Good points, Lester. Scary Reid and Nasty Pelosi are in Gores hip pocket and don't care how much they hurt the rest of us. They need to get out of town (Washington, that is) and stay gone. Maybe we can get some real people to fill their seats and send Gore packing!

I only hope that a reduced price doesn't take pressure off Congress and the President to do something. It seems that there is only impetus to act when we're drowning in high prices.

It's good to hear from you, PopCon!

Yes, the urgency seems to make them get motivated. I hope, too, that they keep the ball rolling and get some drilling going immediately. Off-shore, oil shale, ANWR, anywhere, just to make a start. That should keep the public interested and the market moving. If they don't have something concete going before the election, it might create a panic.

S.L. Great post. If you get a chance, see if sometime you can see the recent "Click and Clack" cartoon show on Wed's (PBS). Last week they took on the SUV makers, but in a way that absolutely humiliated Al Gore for all his swarmy preacher pablum. I was cracking up. The show is called "Turn of the Wrench" and it's a cartoon adaption of their radio show. They've never liked SUVs, but they way they attacked the self-righteousness of the greenies is a riot. Equal opp. mahem and belly laughs.

Like I keep telling you, environmentalism is just the "left flank" of an attack on the USA. The other flank is the "British East India Company" type multinationals destroying all economic protectionism, like tariffs, decent price protection for producers, public infrastructure projects, economic planning for the future, space program, etc.

Hi Howard! We're sort of being squeezed by both flanks, aren't we? I doubt that either McCain or Obama is going to do much about it. Looks like we're in a lot of trouble, doesn't it?
