Environmentalism, Kennedy Style
March 31st 2008 04:48
Sen. Ted Kennedy (D-MA) has joined Al Gore as a "supporter" of the environment. He is every bit as serious about the "cause", too.
On Hannity's America tonight, he showed photographs of the "Maya", Ted Kennedy's yacht, as it dumped diesel fuel into Nantucket Sound. According to the reporter who broke the story (back in 2002) the captain of the yacht said he was emptying the bilges after a diesel leak on orders from the owner. Nice way to protect the environment, huh?
Then there's Robert Kennedy Jr. and his staunch environmentalist stance. He won't allow drilling in ANWAR because it might "hurt the environment." He insists that we find new forms of energy that are "earth-friendly" like wind power. Of course, when faced with the possibility that a windmill "orchard" could be constructed near his home (the famous Kennedy compound) he objected loudly. At first he claimed that the windmills would damage the "wilderness" of Nantucket Sound and deprive people of the recreation area. Then he imagined that the windmills (which would have provided electricity to 140,000 homes) could cause some sort of pollution (like dumpting diesel in the water, maybe?)
It's people like Gore and the Kennedys that give environmentalism a really bad name!
