I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

Viability, Indeed

April 10th 2008 13:21
On Fox News Channel this morning, they interviewed a family who knows a great deal about "viability." Their daughter, Kathryn was due on Halloween but born on the Fourth of July, instead. She was almost four months premature. Her birth weight was one pound! She was early in the second trimester, a time that some people consider acceptable for abortion because the "fetus" cannot be "viable" at that stage.

She sure looks "viable" to me, folks. She's five years old now and traveling around the country on behalf of the March of Dimes. She's a pretty little girl, bright, vivacious, with long hair and a huge grin. She is in perfect health, suffering no lasting damage from her early delivery. Her first 118 days were spent in the neo-natal unit, receiving the care and treatment that kept her going and allowed her to live. The same care and treatment that Barak Obama voted to deny children who survive partial birth abortions!

If her mother hadn't wanted her and had "chosen to abort", Obama and Hillary would have both approved heartily. After all, she wasn't really a baby, right? She was nothing more than a "lump of unviable tissue" and it was the mother's "choice" to be rid of her or not. But the mother did love her and want her. The parents stood by their little girl and the March of Dimes now benefits from their experience. They help premature babies all the time. It's part of what the March of Dimes is all about, folks.

An interesting comparison to Planned Parenthood, isn't it? Both huge organizations, both "serving" millions of people. One kills babies and gets applause and recognition for its "work." The other one saves babies and doesn't have many politicians raving about it. Shouldn't it be the other way around? If the politicians don't support the March of Dimes as often as they could, then it's up to the rest of us. I'll be making a donation again this year. How about you?

My brother was born at one lb and way premature, he's alive and served with me in Vietnam, so our collective un-viable cell masses were able to make a contribution in this life SL. Contribute regularly I do.

Amazing what unviable lumps of tissue can accomplish, isn't it?

My niece was born at 20 weeks. She was in the hospital for quite awhile. I must say I have never seen such a tiny human being - but perfect down to her incredibly infinitesimal fingernails and eyelashes. She was less than a pound and we feared for her life. Today she is married and a mother herself. What a lovely young wife and mother she is! More unviable tissue triumphs!
