Pray for Baby Joseph

February 23rd 2011 13:07
The all-fired wonderful health care system in Canada has another valuable lesson for us all. A baby boy, named Joseph, is in the hospital. He has some form of a neurological disorder that killed his sister and is killing him. The Canadian "death panel" of bureaucrats has decided to remove his breathing tube and kill him (apparently it isn't cost effective to allow him to live). And they won't allow his parents to take him home or seek treatment elsewhere.

According to Joseph's father and their family spokesman, Baby Joseph was treated in the US, briefly and was recovering. For some unknown reason, they returned to the questionable mercies of the Canadian medical system and the child became worse. The particular disease has not been diagnosed, perhaps because diagnosis is more costly than death...?

Imagine yourself in their position, folks. What if you lost one child and were about to lose another from a mysterious disease? What if your government doctors don't want to expend the time and money to determine what the disease is or allow you to go elsewhere for treatment? Suppose you have given up and accept the fact that your baby boy is going to die and just want him to die at home, surrounded by his loving family? Suppose the bureaucrats refuse to let you leave with your son? They insist in removing the tube, suffocating him and delivering him to a funeral home when he dies. You have no right to be with him or try to save him or even comfort him.

This is just another example of the "health care system" in Canada... just one more among hundreds... among thousands... Canadians who prefer to live can (so far) come to the US for treatment. Once Obamacare goes into action, there will be more death panels to determine whether you or your children get to live or die, based on their economic standards.

Pray for Baby Joseph and his family. And by all means, say a prayer for the USA as well, that we don't allow such a thing to happen here.

Hey S.L. that is such a sad story, and one that no doubt will be repeated in the USA if Republicans don't stop Obamacare from being put into effect here.

I will keep baby Joseph in my Prayers, as his parents as well. I can't imagine any thing like that happening to me, but there have been changes over the past few years I would never have imagined either.

That's true (sadly), Lester. Things have changed a lot in a short time. It's hard to imagine that we allowed some of these "changes". It must have been the "hope" that the changes would be good ones. That poor baby and his family are going through the same things that are headed our way if the Supreme Court doesn't support the Constitution. May God have mercy on them if they allow this travesty to happen.

It's interesting when you say the diagnosis may be more costly than death, because, while this may be a bit oversimplified, that is essentially the case. It is a little disturbing how many human rights decisions are truly decided by business. Regardless of your stance on business, cases like this makes for an interesting ethics debate, which you certainly bring up in this post.

Hello Biggnights! It is an interesting debate, but a necessary one as well. Look, unfortunately, money is the bottom line for most things. Wise folks don't buy a house or car they can't afford to pay off. If the cost of insurance is too high, many people can't afford it. If the cost of seeing a doctor or going to the hospital is too high, we tend to put it off until it's a critical situation.

The Obamacare fraud convinced some gullible people that we could have socialized medicine and there would be no death panels. The more the lie is exposed, the fewer people are going for it. People in Canada aren't all delighted with their socialized medicine as we're finding out more every day.

At the present time, in the USA, you can be uninsured and still get medical care when necessary. I've found that it's cheaper for me to pay my own medical costs than to get insurance! And yes, I mean doctors and hospitals. With the right reforms, it would be the other way around. With socialized medicine, it will be impossible (since I would not be considered valuable enough to the state to get treatment).

Baby Joseph and many other helpless people are being victimized by socialized medicine and the death toll is growing. Tragedies like this should not happen anywhere.

I just heard that the Canadian hospital is going to allow Baby Joseph to go home. Without the breathing tube. So their death sentence will be carried out.
