Bi-partisanship and Bovine Excrement
February 23rd 2009 14:08
I'm getting sick of hearing people say that "we have to do something." I'm tired of hearing that "Republicans are in lock-step against the president." Doesn't anyone know why? Can anyone define "bi-partisanship?"
Try this definition on for size, folks. Compromising core values and abandoning principles. In theory, bi-partisanship should mean working together to find solutions that are mutually acceptable and beneficial. That isn't what it really means, though. In todays world, bi-partisanship is when Republicans give up their most cherished beliefs to make Democrats happy. That's all there is to it.
Imagine your neighbor telling you that he wants to fire bomb a pre school and expects you to help him, in the spirit of "bi-partisanship." For some unknown reason, you try to get him to do the deed at night when no children will be there and agree to help him if he'll just give in to your one demand. He refuses and tosses a Molotov cocktail through the window when the room is full of kids. No survivors in the pre-school and you're accused of not being bi-partisan because he had to toss the fire bomb without your help. (If you think it's an ugly analogy, consider the millions of abortions B.O. has just approved and spent your money to commit.)
Picture a gang of thugs who force honest homeowners and businessmen to pay for "protection" or lose everything they own. The thugs want you to help them raid and intimidate your friends and neighbors and you refuse. You're called "partisan" and basically told to either agree or shut up. They do what they want, in spite of you and then talk about how there's plenty of blame to go around. (If you missed the point, consider tax increases and the outrageous lending laws like sub-prime).
How about those who toss their principles to the wind and "work with" the opposition, against the American people? Think McCain/Feingold for example. Bi-partisanship sure did great things for us all, especially John McCain, didn't they?
Bi-partisanship has no value, folks. It's a verbal form of bovine excrement. At least real bovine excrement makes good fertilizer. Bi-partisanship isn't good for anything.
