Typically Liberal Berkeley

Berkeley, California, that "shining" example of liberalism has shown their colors again. In the true liberal style, they started out with a roar about the US Marines being unwanted and unwelcome in their city. They were getting all giggly and "Code Pinkish" and planning to write a letter to the government, refusing to allow Marine recruiters to be in Berkeley. They were so proud of themselves for taking such a good liberal stand against the military of their own country, it never occured to them that anyone might not like it.
At a city council meeting last night, after receiving thousands of emails and phone calls objecting to their plans, they backed down. Was it that they learned the error of their ways? Or maybe just the fact that the federal government might cut some of their funding? In the typically liberal fashion, they wanted to be able to make pacifist noises and strut their stuff until they found out that their money was in jeopardy.
Has anyone told Berkeley that the big protest mentality from the 60's doesn't work these days? Are they in a "time warp" or something? Maybe they're just too busy pandering to Code Pink and hating America to notice that those Marines they don't want around are the ones who protect their right to be jerks...
