Pappy's 100th Birthday
November 5th 2008 15:50
My Pappy would have been 100 years old today. He's been gone a long time. He didn't have to see the disgrace of the Clinton years. He missed 9/11. And thankfully he wasn't around to have to bear the shame of electing the most liberal senator as president.
Pappy was an independent voter (Mama was a hardline Democrat, but she'd be sickened by what this country has just done to itself). He would have surely voted for McCain, having been a World War 2 Navy man. He would have believed that character and experience were more important than pretty, empty words on a teleprompter screen. He would surely have been horrified that the American people would elect a man who wouldn't even salute the flag or show respect to the troops. He would have been very proud of the 2 soldiers and 1 Marine in our family and very worried about B.O. being their Commander-in-Chief.
I miss him still, after all these years, but I'm glad he didn't have to see our country sold down the drain to an empty suit who doesn't have a clue.

And he didn't get to see the disgrace of the Clinton years? From memory the economy was great, unemployment was low and people could afford housing when Clinton was President. Then the man who has been bestowed with the title of Worst President Ever took over and sent us all into a an unwinnable money-pit of a war just to avenge Daddy. Doesn't matter how bad Barack could possibly be, he'll still be miles better than George "Dubya" ever was.
