What Martin Would Have Said...

August 30th 2008 09:45
I've heard several people say that Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. would have been in favor of "abortion rights." I never thought he would have, considering that he was a man of God, a man of peace and a man who believed in equality and justice for all. No one can believe as he did and approve of the slaughter of millions of innocent human beings every year.

It's great to know that he was as straight and honest as I always believed. He would not have twisted himself into a political pretzel by approving of murder to please anyone. Dr. King woukld be horrified at the genocide that's going on right now. The abortion clinics that are located in black neighborhoods and designed to kill black children would outrage him to the core. If he were alive today, Martin Luther King would be leading the protests at abortion clinics and fighting for human rights!

Only God knows what Martin Luther King would march for today. FYI, his wife was a champion for women's issues including Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender social issues. The Black community has larger issues to be concerned about than abortion. Like why a company is more likely to hire a white man with a felony, than a black man with a college degree.

Perhaps both God and Rev. Kings niece, Smooth Political. If he had been there to counsel Coretta, maybe she wouldn't have had the views she developed after his death. Who knows?

Glad you caught this S.L. I saw it earlier and offered some comments for another forum I belong to. What the hell did any of the extraneous stuff about Coretta King Tiffaeny brought up have to do with the gay, transgender issues and this:

The Black community has larger issues to be concerned about than abortion. Like why a company is more likely to hire a white man with a felony, than a black man with a college degree.

Are you really willing to put mass murder -- genocide -- on the same level with poor personnel policy decision making? Please do if you're representing Obama's campaign. It'll just make McCain supporters' jobs a lot easier. Let me share with you some observations that might get you to possibly reshape your perspective. I'm not trying to toot my horn on this, but to frame Obama's campaign and the Democrats callousness on this issue in a much different light than they could ever imagine; and no less coming from one of their own.

Darfur is trendier, especially if you can look ever so concerned at one fundraiser after another for Darfur to make up for the silence surrounding Rhwanda and Bosnia. If you can believe it, these examples of inattention to genocide are "less troubling" on their conscience.

Mass murder's mass murder, right? I guess not when it troubles your conscience the least. But this is what happens when people start compartmentalizing different kinds of mass murder.

Nothing new: the Hard Left has never stopped shedding croc tears for the "victims" of Franco and Hitler in Spain, while they express outrage that anybody would dare to question their ethics, pathos and selective indignation when Catholics and other non-right wingers, nevertheless question the Communists for their atrocities.

If they had heavy bombers does anyone doubt Seville would be their Guernica? And where were all these so-called "progressives" when Stalin was packing people off to Siberia, committing his own holocaust in frozen death camps spread out along the Kolyma River, or even closer -- Kazakstan? Lots of croc tears for the 20 million who died in the USSR during WWII, but how many of them actually murdered on Stalin's orders to open his camps and use the prisoners as human mine sweepers. The Brits offered Russia metal detectors but they were turned down because Stalin wanted to empty his prisons lest they be overrun. He learned well from the botched coverup of the murder of Polish officers in the Katyn Forest in Poland.

When Stalin couldn't stop the Germans with the "free" soldiers he had remaining, he used prisoners "released" to the Red Army to slow the Germans down and waste their ammo by running directly into the line of German fire.

Not a lefty/progressive soul moved during the war and afterwards. Any surprise that we can't get them to budge now? Any surprise that we can't get their prince charming to budge off of his Caihpas-like stance? Better to let a few malformed but abortion-survived kids die than to upset his backers and lose their blood money. This is Stalinism. One or two deaths are a tragedy; 30 million, mere statistics.

Ms. King nailed it on the head. But she might as well have spoken to the Rockies.

Catch that Obama Nuremberg Party Rally? I've been to the Zeppelinwiese in 1965 when they still had the huge row of columns and damn, what I saw Thursday sure brought back more memories of that than any newsreels of King delivering his famous "I have a dream" speech. There was a lot more Nuremberg than the Lincoln Memorial in Denver that night. Impressive speech, but I've also seen Hitler mesmorize audiences in Leni Riefenstal's "Triump of the Will" classic.

The more I looked over Obama's speech and examined his tone, something bothered me. It'd take too long to put in this reply, but I suppose you probably sensed it too; no doubt everyone else involved in this Forum as well could sense it. Let's just say, in his attempts to placate the great unwashed -- who haven't "gotten it" (whatever "it" is) yet, he expressed IT with an edge I (at least) hadn't noticed before. The politest way for me to describe his speech is to dub it "The Triump of Audacity."

This is troubling. So was his lame backhanded statement about Gov. Palin being a "compelling" figure.

Yet, the deaths keep coming, and coming; and the excuses as well.

"Never again" is never quite never, is it?

For every 1000 women, 54 black women have abortions.
I happen to be black Steven so I know a little bit about what black people worry about.

Black Men Are Disproportionately Incarcerated
5 million: Number of men of any race who have ever served time in state or federal prison in 2001
1.9 million: Number of black men who have ever served time in state or federal prison as of 2001
704,000: Number in 1979
630,700: Number of white men in prison or jail
818,900: Number of black men in prison or jail
195,500: Number of black men ages 18-24 in prison or jail
17: Percentage of black men who have ever served time in prison.
Black Women Are Disproportionately Incarcerated
68,800: Number of white women in prison or jail
65,600: Number of black women in prison or jail
There Are More Black College-Aged Men in College Than In Prison Or Jail
1.86 million: Total population of black men aged 18-24
465,000: Black men aged 18-24 enrolled in college
195,500: Black men aged 18-24 in prison or jail
37: Percent of black men high school grads aged 18-24 enrolled in college
25: Percent of black men aged 18-24 enrolled in college
10.5: Percent of black men aged 18-24 in prison or jail
Blacks Have Been Hit Hard By HIV/AIDS
347,491: Number of blacks diagnosed with AIDS since the epidemic began, as of 2002
185,000: Number of blacks who have died from AIDS, as of 2002
162,000: Number of blacks living with AIDS, in 2002
21,000: Number of blacks who are diagnosed with AIDS each year
24: Number of states with HIV transmission laws, as of 2002
25.7: Percentage of AIDS cases that were black in 1983.
. Blacks Are Less Likely To Have Health Insurance Than Whites
45 million: Number of Americans who are uninsured
19.4: Percentage of blacks who are uninsured
11.1: Percentage of whites who are uninsured

The share of young black men without jobs has climbed relentlessly, with only a slight pause during the economic peak of the late 1990's. In 2000, 65 percent of black male high school dropouts in their 20's were jobless — that is, unable to find work, not seeking it or incarcerated. By 2004, the share had grown to 72 percent, compared with 34 percent of white and 19 percent of Hispanic dropouts. Even when high school graduates were included, half of black men in their 20's were jobless in 2004, up from 46 percent in 2000.

What about the genocide that goes on in the streets of America everyday?

Like I stated. Black people have more things to be concerned about than abortions.

Hello Smooth Political. Let me get this straight... Steven points out to you what abortion really is and how genocide is wrong, and you think black people have more important things to worry about than how many of their next generation is being killed?

AIDS is a terrible disease, of course. However, it is 100% preventable. It is caused exclusively by behavior (and don't insult my intelligence by telling me that babies with AIDS caused their own disease. Since pro-abortion people don't give a rats behind about babies, anyway!)

Being incarcerated usually is the result of breaking the law. Using drugs, dealing drugs, gang activities, etc. are 100% preventable for anyone who doesn't want to get killed or go to jail.

You commented on the number of black people in college. How many of them got there through Affirmative Action? Do you realize the damage the liberal ideas have done to black people? Honestly? Affirmative Action presumes that black people are inferior and need to get passed through school without having to learn anything. Then they get into college, unable to do the work because they were never taught anything in high school. The liberals sit back smugly and think, "see, I told you they were inferior. They can't cut it. So we'll increase the race quotas and expand Affirmative Action so more of them can fail and we'll look good for 'helping' our poor under class."

Are you getting any of this, Smooth Political? Do you see the pattern?

Black people live in slums and ghettos in disproportionate numbers to white people. Yes, they do. Why do you suppose this is? Maybe because of Welfare? Maybe because the all important government programs have replaced black men as the heads of their households? Maybe because the liberals have made underachievement and failure acceptable in the black community? Ya think?

On "Hannity's America" awhile back, they tried a little experiment. They had someone call Planned Parenthood and offer a big donation, provided the money was spent to only kill black babies. Planned Parenthood was delighted. It should be as disturbing to you as it is to me, Smooth Political.

Liberals have encouraged irresponsibility, laziness, dependence and failure to make themselves look like heroes and the black population has fallen for it for too many years. When a black person achieves something really great, the liberals don't like them unless they're liberal, too. Like Harry Belafonte, for example. He's a hero to the liberals. He makes them happy because he's just what they want him to be. Colin Powell was the first black Secretary of State and they weren't all that happy about it because he wasn't quite liberal enough to suit them. Alan Keyes, J.C. Watts, Michael Steele and Condoleeza Rice have all done great things but the liberals hate them. They resent the idea that black people can achieve greatness without Affirmative Action and being a good liberal.

Now we have Barack Hussein Obama running for president and black people are supporting him solely because of the color of his skin. He doesn't even have any slave blood for cryin' out loud! His blackness comes from Africa via his father. Nobody makes an issue of the fact that his mother was white, do they? His entire career (what little there is of it) has been devoted to keeping other black people down! He is the most liberal senator! He favors all the programs that have made black Americans weak, helpless, irresponsible, lazy failures. He criticizes successful black people who didn't need government programs to get where they are. He had the gall to say that Justice Clarence Thomas wasn't qualified to sit on the Supreme Court! But he's qualified to be President of the United States because he's a liberal black guy? How incredibly insulting is that?

Before you climb on your high horse and make any really stupid racist remarks because of my position on this issue, Smooth Political, I have plenty of slave blood in me. I'm proud of it! I'm a conservative because of it! And if you don't think I'm serious, maybe you should listen to Bill Cosby. He agrees with me!

One final note. Abortion is nothing but an extension of liberal foolishness. They don't mind a bit killing all babies. But the more black babies they kill, the better they feel. Is your life nothing but an opportunity to make liberals "feel good" or do you have a value beyond that? Are you a human being who can achieve things without their help? Can you manage your own business or do you need their help? Do your children matter to you, or are they nothing more than fodder for the liberal "social cannons" to win whatever wars they invent?

SL your rhetoric is ignorant and I refuse to have a battle of wits with an unarmed person on a subject I am obviously more qualified to discuss.
Liberals haven't hurt black people it's crack pots like you who think that everything that black people have has been given to them.
And yes AIDS is 100% perventable if people decide to use condoms with their spouses......
I personal don't have children, nor have I had an abortion. I am black, I am married and I will have a child when I am ready. I know this may surprise you but my husband and I are both gainfully employed. degreed and obtain specialized certifications in our field. I do know that there are issues in the black community that trump abortion.
For your information, the first Africans in America were not slaves, and the first slaves in America were not black, therefore your argument that Barack Obama's ancestors weren't slaves is irrelevent. As far as your slave blood in you, well your ancestors would be ashamed of your own ignorance of history. And let's just say that I agree with you on most blacks getting into college on affirmative action (which I don't). Affirmative action doesn't keep you in college. Affirmative action won't do your term papers for you. Affirmative action can't help you write your thesis so the degree is earned. Additionally, you are implying that a white felon would still be more deserving of the jail.Furthermore, children who have to go to these inner city schools by no fault of their own will find it difficult to compete because they have since books from 1999. Once they are in college, some get frustrated and drop out, but the others have had adversity to over come and STILL graduate from college with advanced degrees. I don't know what podunk part of the country you are from but it is obvious you need to broaden your horizens.
Again I will point to the murders of innocent people caught in the cross fire in neighborhoods because they were at the wrong place at the wrong time. Children. What about those children? They don't have rights.
It's obvious that you are perpetuating your self hatred in your post. I actual feel sorry for you...sister

Let me address one more unsubstantiated, far fetched claim. Black people enlarge have always voted for the Democrat. This is the first time in history where there has been someone other than a white person to chose from. So your claim that black people are voting for Obama simply because he is black is simply not true. Al Gore received 95% of the black vote and and John Kerry 93% according to the Gallup Poll . Get your facts straight before you go spreading lies.

Well, Sista Smooth, we are obviously not on the same page or even in the same book. You're welcome to go and play victim with someone else. Victimhood wasn't what Dr. King stood for. Apparently you think responsibility is someone else's problem (since it sounds like you have your act together, congrats) but I happen to agree wholeheartedly with Bill Cosby, Michael Steele, J.C Watts, Clarence Thomas, Alan Keyes, and Walter E. Williams that sitting on your rear end waiting for democrats to take care of you is what got the racial problems fired up and has kept them so since the seventies. But perhaps you don't think they're "black enough" to suit you, either?
