I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

Lots of Information about Herbs

January 15th 2011 18:37
Two years ago (almost) I moved to a new place. Lots of farmers and ranchers in this area. It seems like everyone around here likes herbal medicines more than doctors... so do I, as a matter of fact.

Anyway, I discovered that Medicinal Nature by Manda Spring made a great Christmas gift for a whole new audience. Just in case you haven't got a copy, it's loaded with herbal remedies and information. It isn't even very expensive, so it makes a terrific anytime gift or just a good reference source for yourself. I bought several and have one handy every time I take a walk so I can learn more about the plants I see. You never know when herbs will come in handy!

I believe herbs have a great potential in the medical field. My Grandfather was a retired coal miner that suffered much from black lung.

The best medicine for his smothering was from a old Indian doctor, I don't remember what it was but it gave him more relief than traditional medicine, but that was almost 30 years ago.

My mother-law had stomach problems, I got her some yellow, and fixed some extract from the roots she drank it and she didn't have anymore stomach problems for years later.

We have ginseng, blood root, yellow root, Moss, different types of tree bark, and many more herbs here, I have used ginseng the most.

I use to hunt it eat the leaves, and then bring the root home to make tea. Sassafras use to be a family favorite, I have them growing next to my home.

Getting back to nature is a very good idea, Lester, especially with the health care mess. You are ahead of most people where herbs are concerned! Hopefully "Medicinal Nature" will help lots of others catch up.
