"Yard Bird"
May 2nd 2009 06:59
I have one chicken left in the office coop. I call it Yard Bird. The other chickens were trying to peck it to death when we took them to the outside coop. No idea if it's a hen or a rooster, but it really doesn't matter much. It's not an Aricana (which I though it was supposed to be). Looks more like a "Dominicker" all black and white. It isn't like the rest of the chickens and to be honest, I'm not sure how it stays alive... The top of it's beak is straight, but the bottom jaw is turned way off to the left. How it manages to eat and drink is a mystery to me! As soon as the weather clears, we'll put the office coop outside and let Yard Bird have the run of the front yard.
Are you wondering how I can turn a deformed chicken into a political argument?
Easy! Imperfection, whether animal or human, tends to be attacked by those that perceive themselves to be perfect. People like Margaret Sanger (Hillary's hero) wanted to kill all the imperfect (poor, black, disabled) people so those that lived would become a "master race". Hitler had the same idea.
Ridding society of imperfect people is the goal of Planned Parenthood (as long as it's their own view of imperfection, of course). B.O. (B.S.) and the other Democrats (liberals) have the idea that it's acceptable to kill anything that isn't up to their standards of "perfection." Conservatives believe that life matters, especially human life.
My kids took in a little blind sheep that the rest of the herd tried to kill and the mother abandoned. He didn't live but a few weeks. Then they took in another one that the herd tried to kill, and she's doing very well. She's a year old now.
In the animal world, there is no compassion, no remorse. Killing the imperfect young, abandoning the old, injured or infirm is the usual behavior. In the liberal world, it's the same. Unwanted children are routinely murdered (renamed "fetus" so they're dehumanized). Pregnant women are encouraged to kill their children for a variety of reasons, from Down Syndrome to being the wrong gender, to not being sure who the father is, to the all-important financial considerations.
In the conservative world, life matters. I bought all these chickens for their eggs (and because I love the sound of roosters crowing at daylight!) Because it makes sense to have an endless supply of eggs rather than a few chicken dinners. The "healthy, normal" chickens have their coop and secured yard. Little Yard Bird will have a bigger place to live and dogs to protect it. If it's a hen, we'll have more eggs. If it's a rooster, we'll wake to the sound of crowing every morning. But this "imperfect" chicken will have a life and the opportunity to do well. Isn't it sickening that children don't have the same possibilities?
