Stand for Something
December 18th 2007 19:32
I've noticed a little more than usual lately how those who stand for nothing have the loudest mouths and say the least. Some of them are "Anonymous" because they're so ashamed of what they say, they fear to use their real names. I've even been accused of going under an "alias" to "spew hate" at another blog site.
You can always tell when people believe what they say (even if you don't agree with it). They use their own names and have arguments instead of insults for rebuttals. "You have to stand for something or you'll fall for anything," are the words of a country song from a few years ago. Very true, indeed. Those who have no real values and core beliefs will jump on whatever foolish bandwagon comes along in the hopes of making themselves appear to be "relevant." It never works for very long... unless your name is Algore, Ted Kennedy, Billary, John Kerry or a few other shameless "notables." They stand for re-election, first, last and only. Values? That's a laugh.
Someone recently chided me (none to gently) by way of suggesting that my attitudes are "un-Christian" when it comes to Shariah Law. I've never mentioned my religion and have no intention of doing so. It has no bearing whatsoever on my blogs. But let's analyze their idea for a moment, shall we?
First of all, please find somewhere in the Bible where Jesus approves of abortion. Just one line will do. Not like the way it was "magically found" in the Constitution, either. Just show me one sentence where Jesus said it was acceptable to kill your children if they were an inconvenience...
Or show me where He approved of brutality toward women. Didn't He personally step in to save a woman from being stoned to death? Where did He ever approve of beating women or kids? Where did He say that strangling your daughter was acceptibale of she didn't obey you? Did He ever give lessons on how to beat wives without leaving marks?
Was it ever said that He thought slavery was cool? Or did Moses (from the Old Testament, for those of you who don't know) rescue his people from the slavery of Egypt? I seem to recall that God parted the sea for the slaves to manage their escape...
Can anyone cite one occurance of Jesus being in favor of evil? Did He ever, even once, say that everything was all right as long as it made the do-er feel good for the moment? Did He promise virgins to rape (for eternity) to His followers who killed innocents? Did He offer to forgive those who chose political expediency over doing what was right?
For those of you who are Jewish, can you come up with even once when Moses or Abraham stood for evil and not for good? Were the great Hebrew leaders in the Bible in favor of abortion? Or did they demand recompense when a pre-born child was killed? Look it up. It's in there.
Someone will undoubtedly make the old "Hate the sin, love the sinner" excuse for going along with whatever idiocy pops up. Jesus may well have loved the guys he physically tossed out of the temple. But he didn't appreciate what they were doing. He didn't let them get away with their sacrilige and put an abrupt stop to their antics.
He gave a Samaritan the chance to do good and was pleased when the man did what was right.
Memo to those who get their jollies from Christian bashing... Try to at least have a clue before opening your big, fat mouths.

The bible is pretty clear about two things one is "Thought shall not kill" EVER.
The other is turn the other cheek. The bible is crystal clear that man should never answer violence with violence. If their is is any smiting of sinners and evil to be done then God will take care of them.
Just two little things that always amuse me when Christians try to justify War or the death penalty.

You phonies amuse me as well, John Doe. Saving millions of people from slavery and brutality don't sound right to you? Maybe you need your brain adjusted... or perhaps a brain transplant... if they can find a willing mosquito....
Evil can only survive if good people do nothing. It's very true, you know. Sitting back and allowing evil to prosper isn't the Christian way... or the way of anyone with a brain. But, John Doe, you wouldn't understand that, would you? Maybe you should have a little chat with the last survivors of Nazi concentration camps and ask if they felt that we were in the wrong to save them? Maybe you should ask a few million Iraqis who now have a future if we were wrong to save them? Perhaps you could read the chronicles of former slaves who appreciated being freed.
But probably not... people as ignorant as you obviously are seem to think that evil is fine and dandy as long as it doesn't affect you.

Well said, that was a wonderful post. I get a lot of christian bashing on my blog, just because I tell them what the bible says.
We must love the sinners souls, but we sure can't be partakers of their evil ways, nor agree with them either.

As for identifying your religion, that's easy; you worship the god whose face you wash at in the morning at the alter of your mirror. I know who I am, what I can and have done to be useful in this world. And I am willingly demonstrate it on a daily basis.
Me, I can walk on water!* A brash statement or lie; which is it?
Are you bi-polar? I ask because you vacillate continuously between extremes. Your spiels remind me of Billary, screech and holler, bluster and bluff, but no real content is ever proffered; just a never ending flow of flatulence.
You are the arch typical fox caught in a chicken coop, and from your kaleidoscopic point of view; it's the chicken's fault of course. You're as consistent as a leaf in the wind and it will always be someones else who has changed position(s). You are much like your mentor, Billary, and aren't going to be accountable for anything; because in your mind, you're above it all.
Try keeping your big fat mouth shut, every time you open it, you demonstrate your vitriolic hatred, intolerance and glaring ignorance.
In another comment I mistakenly called you 'grannie hate', I was hasty; the proper phrase should have been 'o'. Because it fits so nicely between your initials, "SLoB."
What do I stand for? I stand for calling you a sad, bigoted, pathetic little person of no import.
*It's a matter of semantics, when the water is frozen it's common to do so; it's ice.

You are showing everyone just what you are, and what you stand for. (murder, hate, insults, down right lying, and ill manners)
I believe S.L. is a person of virtue, but I don't need anyone to lead me. I just agree with people of reason and common sense wish you did the same.
Do you actually have anything to say? Think before you speak, and you won't sound so stupid. You have no right to come on S.L.'s blog and insult her without cause.

Interesting how you went completly off on a tangent in reply to my comment. For instance I never mentioned an opinion on abortion yet your logical beginning seemed to be a quip about baby slaughter??
And the uncalled for insults are much appreciated, I didn't realize my words would upset you so much that you wouldn't even be able to debate the topic with a sense of logic.
Whether or not ending slavery or Nazi's sounds right to me personally has nothing to do with it. My statement was about the words in the bible and misinterpretation, whether or not my opinion deems it justice is irrelevant. (Unless I was god of course)
I was only offering an observation about what I've witnessed in life with the hypocrisy of gods word that I've seen in select people. It was not a statement of fact because I'm not god, just some dude who enjoys reading the bible as a monumental work of fiction. (The same genius understanding of human frailty and emotion as Shakespeare.)
You shared a lot of your opinions. Vacant insults based on assumption but nothing with any relevance or answers to the riddle. Not even a sensible question to try and discuss the matter and learn from each other. I may not agree with anything you say, but I do find your posts entertaining for their subjective tunnel vision.

You and Don Lee (who oddly doesn't appear to exist on Orble, because when I checked to see who he is, I received an invalid URL notice, odd, eh?) are two misguided little parrots lead about by your noses.
So, yes, I have things to say and share; and did. By what right have I posted here? This is a public forum, there weren't any neocon white supremacist's at the portal to keep me out, just the over whelming stench of visceral crapola that I was able to overcome long enough to make my comments and leave.
Now you expect me to show compassion, mercy, or at the least-demonstrate fair play? The same qualities you withheld? You failed miserably at that task, isn't that indicative of your propensity for hypocrisy?
What am I advocating; hit your knees in your prayer closet, and ask your creator about which path is aimed towards the truth? You are at a cross roads Lester as a person and a pastor.

Isn't that what this is all about here? I don't think it is as much about standing up for this murderer as it is about trashing Christians.
No Raven I don't wear any earrings at all, that's for girls. I have never had a slave nor will I ever own slaves, none of my ancestors owned any slaves to the best of my knowledge. I don't feel responsible about slavery since I had no part in it.
Although the Muslim people have slaves, only they are called, Sudanese Christians, wives, and daughters maybe you better check their ears out for ear ring crosses. Sounds to me like you need to remove that nose ring, and stop being lead around, and start thinking soberly for yourself.
As for Don Lee sounds like a pretty good fellow to me, and like you said it is a public forum so he has done nothing wrong. At least he used his name, and didn't try to hide under Anonymous, but he doesn't need me to defend him sounds like he is well able to do that for himself.
Where I come from when someone says they smell something stinking, we usually tell them it's their upper lip, but in your case you might want to check the stuff coming out of your mouth.
I am sorry you think that keeping someone fed and warm is so wrong, that I failed at compassion. I showed more compassion for this fellow than he showed to his own child.
You boast of what you have done, to help mankind, and I am not questioning it at all. But one thing why did you do it? 1 Corinthians 13:3 And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not charity, It profiteth me nothing.
Where is the love and compassion for this child that was murdered? If you truly want to do good, condemn this horrible act, and use your voice for women, and children that don't have a voice, because of this cruel hostile religion that have killed so many of them.
As you stated that I am at a cross roads as a person and pastor. No I am not at a cross roads, I know the path I must take.
It's funny that people attack Christians, because of what we believe yet give other religions a pass on everything under the sun. I hear how we are hypocrites, and we don't have love or tolerance to others, but that's a lie if we were like the Muslims you would not be able to have this conversation would you.
A pray closet is not a bad Idea for everyone of us. I try to visit mine often, but I could visit it more.
Merry Christmas Raven, and hope you have a happy new year.
S.L. I am sorry for writing so much on your blog, but thanks for the opportunity.
Keep up the good work be strong and of good courage.

Boy, ol' SL really launched their rockets, didn't she? I've been reading her stuff for a long time and think you're right, Lester. She has character and convictions and uses her blog to do what she believes in.
She must be doing something right to get such ugliness dumped on her so often!
Comment by S.L. Bradish
As for the rest of you, if you have nothing better to do than bash Christians, I really pity you. Maybe it's just your way of celebrating Christmas, huh?
It still surprises me at times how the real haters enjoy making hate accusations. And the lame attempts to make someone else look bad are almost comical. Adding an "o" to my name, for example is straight out of 2nd grade. Not at all surprising, just pitiful...
Someone asked me to account for all my "good deeds" that would qualify me for having an opinion on right and wrong. O.K. but then you can accuse me of bragging, right? Or lying?
I've been a lifeguard, a medic and a foster parent. I don't have a need to show off, Raven. I know what I have done for others and am proud of my accomplishments. Obviously you have some need to tear others down in the mistaken hope that it will make you look better.
And someone asked why I started my argument with abortion... I did that because it's the one thing that most libs/dems agree on and are vocal about. They tend to hide a lot of their agenda, but most of them are "proudly pro-choice" because they think it'll get them more votes. Regardless the justification or excuse or Constitutional wrapping paper, abortion is still the killing of babies. If you aren't against it, you're for it. There's no third "choice" here, folks. It's like slavery and Nazi Germany. You're either for or against evil. Only a fool tries to invent a "middle ground" to hide in.

Did you record yourself?
Very interesting all this. Why are you always so angry?
Could you please stop citing Jesus as an excuse for your bad attitude? Please please stop using religion as a weapon....
Or do you prefer to live by this decree?...sticks and stones may break my bones but names will never harm me.
You seem to get a lot of enjoyment out of all this.
It is not religion nor faith that creates hatred...it is people like you using religion and/or faith as a reason to manifest their innate bitterness.
That's a very noble sentiment but your ignoble application, renders that point moot
...and why is Lester Caudill self proclaimed God's Advocate's (you do know what that means right?*)accusing Raven of "murder..." when S L Bradish is the one who self publish's books about murder?
As for
I'll add - incapable of understanding the written word.
Excatly where was this written?
While we're on this subject of evildoers...please explain what you think should be just punishment for someone like...say...Fr Patrick McDonagh.
Please don't bother insulting me.

And then for Christianity, Jesus still approves of slavery and also says that children that curse their parents must die.
I'm not going to go fish for those quotes. You can look them up yourself. They are there.

So, tell me, Anonymous, do you support the Muslim terrorists? Or are you just against all religious people, everywhere?
