I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

Employment in the Modern Era

December 3rd 2006 00:33
As many of you have noticed, I have a creature that seems to get its jollies out of threatening me and harrassing me. My previous employer, Associated Content, seems to think that bad behavior is acceptable in some of its Content Producers but just the suggestion of it is not allowed from others. This is politics on a small scale, granted, but politics none-the-less. So today I will address the small scale politics you find within a company. Mostly it's a matter of who can kiss how much rear end faster than who else. You all know the types. Yes men (and women) who have no real opinions of their own, just whatever the boss might like to hear. The old joke about someone "sleeping their way to the top" is only slightly exaggerated in some companies. It isn't difficult to find another job if you have to deal with dishonest employers or co-workers. After all, you were looking for a job when you went there, weren't you? Although underlings playing up to employers for their own gain is annoying, what I find even harder to take is when a company babies one employee and permits all forms of bad behavior in their efforts to be politically correct in one way or another. For example, the young man named Jayson Blair who worked for a famous New York newspaper and was found to have plagarized or faked most of his articles. He had chance after chance to do his job the right way. The newspaper covered for him repeatedly until his lack of ethics became too obvious for them to deny. He was finally fired. The fact that he was black gave him free rein to do whatever he wanted with impunity. Is race to be the measure of a person? Martin Luther King Jr. would be disgusted to hear that! So, what is the most important factor in a person? If not color, maybe national origin? How many companies arrange for multi-lingual employees (at the expense of English speaking workers)? How many states and governement agencies charge tax payers for printing everything in languages other than English? Now it's gender bias we get to deal with. Oh, great... A straight conservative gets fired to please a liberal gay? Just ducky. I keep hoping that the "Land of Opportunity" will shine through the politically correct fog and people will be either rewarded or punished according to their merits, not some subjective criterion that seeps through the politically correct gaps in our society.

Well put SL. Perhaps a bit too vague for the Dems to recognize themselves, but those of us with at least one brain cell left know exactly what you mean. Keep it up, tiger.

LMAO! I have a picture of two lions, one male one female, on my desktop. Hope that doesn't offend any she-males who might read this. Jean and I are both Leo's so I thought it fitting. Before I stalk you any longer, have you seen my latest post, 'Blogging II'? Let me know what you think. It's a reply to the Caped Crusader's rant against me.

I looked, but maybe it isn't up yet. The first one about Blogging is the newest on your list. I'll keep checking back. Can't wait to read it! BTW, have you noticed a sudden lack of the she/male? I hope that it means the annoying one has been fired!

You're probably right, I just posted it this morning. I got my first rejection letter from Constant Content, boo-hoo. I'll keep trying that one though.
Yes, someone seems to be conspicuous by their absence. I love it.

CC rejected you? Why? Someone else told me their first article was rejected because of "plagerism" of all things. He quoted an article he had written himself for AC. They sound really picky, huh? How can anyone plagerise himself? I'm beginning to wonder if anyone can get on with them...

I don't know the reason yet. It is now on AC as "The Jolly Old Elf" Maybe is wasn't politically correct enough for them.

I looked at your AC page and didn't see "The Jolly Old Elf". Strange..... Is it under your name? Or someplace else?

Nope, both articles are under my name, Youranter. I got a note that they were updating their site today but that was at 4 this morning MST. Maybe that has something to do with it.

WOW-
I checked it out too SL. I still don't think that person got paid for that kind of 'writing'. This whole situation is crazy and I would not let your brother go ther Drake... it seems he might become a target as well- why take the chance? I mean yeah it seems that the most amatuerish work is accepted but that is a littel too much to be targeted by a freak like that.

I was able to hear your interview about internet stalkers on the radio, it was valuable advice... Thank you for sharing. But most people can not afford a lawyer... what advice can you offer them? Is there anything they can do besides going to the police and starting a lawsuit as you have- or is that pretty much all that is available?

It was a privelage to comment here and I look forward to your answer. I love your style, I wish I could write half this well.

Cheers!

Hello Cheryl!! Thank you for the kind words. As for the way best to fight stalkers and such, if you don't have a lawyer (or can't afford one, they're pricey buggers!), you can talk to your local police and see what they're willing to do. You can also contact government authorities, especially if the harrassment comes from outside your own country. Another measure to try is just deleting the hateful stuff the minute you find it (after making a copy, of course, in case you need proof down the road). Without an audience the pathetic critters usually just go away.
