I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. Rebates for Illegals??

January 31st 2008 19:50
According to Rush Limbaugh, the rebate that will grace each of us later this year is also intended to go to illegal aliens. How about that? Didn't some genius say recently that we can't find all the illegals? That they're hidden within the system, working their tails off to support their "law abiding" families? So now, suddenly, as if by magic, we can find them to send them a rebate from the federal goivernment (via the IRS). Doesn't that give them the air of legitimacy? Doesn't it make them appear to deserve part of the "stimulous package?" By paying them for breaking our laws and giving them a legitimacy they don't deserve, aren't we granting a sort of sideways amnesty? Looks like it to me, folks.

John Ensign (R-NV) is creating a bill to leave the illegals out of the deal. And well he should! The more we grant to illegals, the more we give them our support and tacit approval, the more we encourage them to violate our laws and come here illegally. What part of ILLEGAL is so hard to understand? We can either stop rewarding them or we can call ourselves the "Northern States of Mexico" the "Comfort Zone of Al Qieda" and the garbage dump that panders to illegals from all over the world. Is that what we really want to be?

Good for Sen. Ensign and those who stand with him. Amnesty (in any form) is not the answer. Controlling our own borders is the solution to many of our problems. I wonder how many terrorists will be getting some of the "rebate" money and what they'll be doing with it... Maybe buying a few more sticks of dynamite? A few more guns? Or just sending it along to their bosses at al Qieda or the Taliban?

Yep, it's amazing how contemptible our elected officials have become.

PopCon, they don't seem to be getting any nicer, either. What a garden of delights we have to choose from... It's looking like Romney is the only chance real conservatives have. And I'm not as sure of him as I'd like to be. On the other hand, of the others... I AM ABSOLUTELY SURE!! Ugh....

If McCain gets the GOP nomination, I may vote for the Dem (even though I think they are both disastrous). I'd rather get stabbed in the front than the back. If McCain is the best the GOP can do, then the Republican party needs to bottom out -- and the sooner that happens, the better it will be. Only then can the party get the wake-up call it needs to clean the pipes and rebuild the party.

From what Rush has been saying, PopCon, if McCain wins, the party may not be able to rebuild. His liberalism could mean the end of conservatism altogether. I hope he's wrong. Liberalism is the shortest route to communism and I'd hate to see us crawl down that road. As I said, I'm not convinced that Romney is the best we have, but he may be the best we can do. Voting for Billary or Obama is a guaranteed disaster. McCain is no better... damn...

I voted for Mitt here in GA (early absentee ballot). I was a Fredhead, but Mittens was the next most logical choice.

If McCain gets the nom for the GOP, we'll get amnesty. Either Dem will grant amnesty and McCain would, too. And the GOP could very well be over (at least over as we know it). That would put about 10 million Dem voters on the path to citizenship. The GOP would probably have to rebuild as a more fiscally liberal party. I do think a lot of the new "citizens" would be social conservatives, but they would not be for tax cuts or small government. That's why I can't understand the rationale of the Wall Street crowd who pines for more immigration (legal or illegal). Those new people will be natural dem constituents. They will vote and will eventually turn on the Wall Street types by strengthening unions and calling for tax increases on the "rich". I guess it's just more short-term thinking (which is typical of Wall Street).

Amnesty, drivers licenses, voters. That's the plan, easy as one, two, three. Maybe there'll be a fourth step... McCain switches parties. I wish he'd do it before the conventions, though! lol

You're right about Wall St., PopCon. Their own shortsightedness will be the death of them yet.

I wish Fred hadn't dropped out.

Hey S.L. and Popcon. Fred was the best conservative choice although I liked mike. If Fred would have came out earlier, and with the fire he had in the last debate I watched him in, he would have been my first choice.

I think his laid back attitude kind fooled people into thinking he didn't want the job. But being from the south I kinda know where he was coming from. Mitt is the only choice, and the only hope we have now.

The rebates should go to Legal American only, not criminals that break our laws. If the illegals get rebates would that be fraud on their part, and they should be charged with a crime instead of compensated.

You're right about Fred, Lester. By the time he was ready to start, he was pretty much finished He would have been an excellent president! But it looks like it's Mitt or disaster...
