I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

re: Barack Obama

December 14th 2006 19:34
After an unexpectedly high turn out for his speech and book signing in New Hampshire last weekend, Mr. Obama had to get one shot fired at the Republicans while trying to make himself look like something more than an opportunist. He made a remark that the same people who wouldn't vote for him because he is black wouldn't vote for his politics, either. It always amazes me when a black liberal has to accuse Republicans of being racist. A Republican freed the slaves! But I guess they forgot about Abe Lincoln. It was the Republicans who fought for equal rights and civil rights. Democrats fought it tooth and nail. It was a Republican admisistration that has had more black people in high offices than Bill Clinton or any other Democrat ever dreamed of. Who appointed the first black Secretary of State? Uh... Goerge W. Bush, that's who. Colin Powell was his name. And the first black woman Secretary of State... that's a tough one, folks. How about Goerge W. Bush? The lady's name is Condoleezza Rice, in case you have been living off-planet for the last few years. There are too few conservative black people, granted. But the liberal ones can't seem to do anything but race-bait and hope to make themselves look like they're abused to get votes. Do I think the country is ready for a black president? Maybe not. Certainly not one who uses his race to get points with anyone. If Condi Rice ran, or Alan Keyes, or J.C. Watts, they'd have my vote in a heartbeat. Mr. Obama was half right, you know. Lots of people won't consider voting for him. But color has nothing to do with it. His politics stink!

You made a pretty huge leap in logic to asume that Obama was calling Republicans racist. He was simply saying that the sort of person who would vote against him for color would likely also not likely agree with his version of politics, becasue his version of politics takes equality to heart at it's core. There are racist democrats as well as racist republicans, and the fact is that some people vote contrary to their party's opinion. To assume Obama was talking about Republicans is to yourself say that Republicans are the racist party. people vote based on far more than party lines. This may shcok you, but some of us vote, using our brains and thinking through the various issues... and woudn't be caught dead swallowing the whole of the platform of our chosen parties.

That's nice to know, D.A. Tell me, when was the last time you voted for a Republican or a conservative idea?

I voted for Bush Sr. I voted for a Republican governor in Washington. I voted against Maria Cantwell. I gave you a list recently of things I believe that gave you a run down of things I believe from both sides of the aisle.

Having read a great deal of your writings, DA, I find it a bit difficult to believe that you've ever voted for a conservative. Especially with your use of the term "Bush Sr." Anyone who knows anything about the Bush family knows that Bush 41 was George Herbert Walker Bush and Bush 43 is George Walker Bush. No Jr. or Sr. involved. Al Gore always called Bush 43 "Jr." as an insult. In truth, Gore was Albert Gore Junior! If you'd really voted for him, you'd have known that. And after your tirade on the subject of gays, I doubt that you'd vote conservative since it's mostly a liberal issue. Want to try again?

Well Mrs. Bradish, I'm not sure where exactly you have read my writings, as I have not divulged to your which writings are mine, and secondarily, while I used the term "Sr." I didn't do so out of ignorance of the difference in thier names, but as a quick way of indentifying the man of whom I was speaking. He is the senior of the Bush Presidents, regardless of his nomenclature. I am curious though, as you seem to have gotten it wrong. Who exactly do you think I am?

You're such a tease, Tiffany. Or Harry, or DA, what ever name you're using this week, you can't change your personality or style quite enough for anyone to buy it.

Not sure where the sudden hostility is coming from, but apparently I challenge you too much intellectually to keep to the topics at hand. I'd be more than happy not to come here any more. Just say the word. I was under the impression that this forum was for the purpose of intelligent debate. Was I misled?

By all means, keep coming back. I'm not the one who has trouble staying on topic, however. Intellegent debate is great fun. Maybe you should do more of it than just switching subjects and launching into unrelated tirades.

You amaze me. You are completely blind to your own faults. For example, on this post we started off immediately with me on topic, and you decided to make the conversation about my voting habits, and eventually about me, but apparently it's me that can't stay on topic. Your blog, your rules, but it does seem a bit odd that in both cases where yu have accused me of going off of topic, you have been the one who took it away from topic. I have just gone along for the ride.

DA, I simply replied to a comment of yours about your voting habits. You made it about you, I just responded.

I'd be more than happy. As you can see.... At the top of this commentary I made some points about Obama and racism.. and how you made a leap in logic to assume that he was speaking of Republicans. How about we start by responding to that commentary, seeing how's I was nice enough to challenge your assertions on the topic of this post....

No problem, DA. The way Obama said his remark implied that anyone who disagreed with him was racist. Maybe you didn't read it that way, but most everyone else did. He's trying to play the race card where it doesn't exist. His politics stink, as I've said before. Nothing to do with race. Hillary and Edwards and the others have reeking political agendas as well. They don't have to be black to lose my vote. They just have to be libs.

Comment by Devil's Advocate

December 18th 2006 19:17
Yes, he played the Race card, but I submit he didn't aim it at Republicans. He aimed it at people who wouldn't vote for him because of color. In essence he said "There are people who wouldn't vote for me becasue of racism, and likely those people also disagree with my politics". There are more people than republicans who disagree with Obama's politics. That was my point. You made him out to be accusing the GOP of being a party of racists. That's not what he was saying at all.

Comment by S.L.Bradish

December 18th 2006 19:30
If you're right, DA, (and I know you're not) then the Dems have been fighting the wrong war all this time. Liberal blacks have no future with the Dems, as anyone who can read or watch tv would know. At every turn, they play their race card and gain sympathy from people who don't know any better (or just want to make believe). Obama must, if you are correct, know his politics stink. But how could he miss the fact?

Comment by Devil's Advocate

December 18th 2006 19:35
His politics are not of issue in this post. What is of issue is whether or not he was targeting Republicans and accusing them of being racist. I say he was not, and that he was simply saying that the same people that wouldn't vote for him over race, also wouldn't agree with his politics...that there are also democrats and green party people, and libertarians who would not vote for a balck man and would also not agree with his politics. I submit that it's you that made the leap and accused him of false accusations against republicans... not him.

No.. It was only clear to overly sensitive republicans who think that the only way to be patriotic good Americans is to buy their version of a platform. not everyone is so deadset on polarizing the country.

Comment by Devil's Advocate

I have indeed been paying attention.... Under Republican rule, the Country is more polarized than it has been since the mid 1960's.

Comment by S.L.Bradish

December 19th 2006 18:11
Is it really more polarized or does the mainstream media just tell it that way? You must be listening to different polls than I do. The most polarizing people around today are the likes of Hillary.

You think there is really less animosity between the sides than 6 years ago?

Comment by S.L.Bradish

December 19th 2006 19:45
Six years ago? I thought you were talking more like 36 years ago. Were you around then? I was. And I remember how it was. The divisiveness then was created by the mass media and so it is today. If they'd just report the news, straight up without Dan Rather and Katie Couric to tell people what to think and to lie if they didn't think people were listening closely enough, maybe the truth would get out a little more effectively. As I recall, Walter Cronkite brought down LBJ and the Rather's and Kourics think they can bring Bush down. Fortunately there are still some of us who are able to think without commentators telling us how we feel. The rest of you keep drinking the kool aid and will get a bad taste in your mouths someday.

Interesting how when you want to make a point, you say "Watch the news", and yet to try to make this point, you say the news agencies are passing out Poison Kool-Aid. Which is it? Are the News Agencies generally right, and giving us the straight scoop? Or are they generally wrong and poisoning our society with liberal Ideology. I will broaden my orginal question. Has there been a time in American History since the late 1960's when America has ever been so divided? Name it. Bill Clinton Predicted this divide during his speech to the Democratic Convention in 2000 if the country ended up with Bush. Bush, on the other hand, dismissed the remarks out of hand, claiming to be a Uniter.

Comment by S.L.Bradish

December 19th 2006 20:31
So, Clinton is now a great seer who knew Bush would be a divider? Bull dookey. Clinton did his best to create the divide with that speech and his behavior before and after it. When I speak of the mass media, I refer to the liberal side of it. They lie. It's what they do best to keep the divisions going and widening. Their liberal leanings are clear to anyone who pays attention. Have you heard them report ANY positive news from Iraq? I haven't. As long as they can make their case to a foolish captive audience, they're all kinds of smug and happy. But they can't tell you about the progress, can they? Not the growing stock market? Not the building industry? Not the citizens who are glad we're there. All they can tell you is the death tolls and make it look as though our troops are responsible. Like I said before, go ahead and drink their Kook Aid. It'll leave a bad taste in your mouth someday.

Comment by Devil's Advocate

December 19th 2006 20:40
So you mean to tell me that in six years George Bush has not been able to undo the makings of one single speech by Bill Clinton, and that Clinton's speech then is to blame for the massive divide in our country? You mean to tell me that if not for Bill Clinton's speech, Buish would be able ot live up to the claim of being a Uniter... not a divider? Wow. That Bill Clinton sure does wield alot of power!

Comment by S.L.Bradish

December 19th 2006 20:49
Clinton only has power with those stupid enough to listen to him. His re-writes of history are quite interesting as a matter of fact. But the witless members of the press (and the public) who want to continue following him over cliff after cliff don't seem to learn anything. You know, people like you... The libs were so incensed that a Republican could actually win, they had to find some way to discredit him. So far, there are enough Kool Aid drinkers to let the libs get away with it. But there are also enough intellegent people to speak up and tell the truth. But you wouldn't know about that, would you, DA.? What about the facts? I guess they don't matter to you, do they? Like the Iraqi stock market and their businesses doing well.
