I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

Homeschool Troubles

March 17th 2008 15:20
The religious war that's being waged against Christians has spilled over into the realm of education and constitutional rights. 200,000 kids in California alone are being homeschooled, (there are more than a million nation-wide). Although I don't live in California, I know people who do, and their "governator" has made news with his position on the subject of homeschooling.

There are two main reasons that parents decide to take their children out of the public school system (government indoctrination centers) and educate them at home. One reason is that the schools tend to give grades for just being there, not for actual learning. They give credits for participation in "events" that are political in nature. For example, school kids in Reno, Nv. were given credit for attending a Global Warming rally that was held during school hours. Political issues are forced on the children while history (especially the Constitution) are downplayed. In many schools, the Holocaust is no longer taught (for fear of offending Muslims). Algore's ridiculous book and movie are required in more and more schools. Grades are given for learning to be "green" and going along with the fraud, but debate and actual discussion of the subject are prohibited. Children are expected to celebrate "alternative lifestyles" and are scolded if they prefer "traditional values."

The other reason that so many parents choose to homeschool their children is because of the anti-Christian values that the schools teach. "If it feels good, do it," was a mantra of the 60's and 70's. But it's being taught at some sort of accepted rule in the schools of today. One teen aged girl was cutting herself and allowing her "friends" to drink her blood! The teachers and counsellors found nothing wrong with this. They called it a "learning experience!" In some schools, drug use is encouraged as a way to "expand the mind!" Birth control is handed out freely, along with graphic sex education. Abstinance is laughed at and abortion is applauded. The referrences to God have been removed from American history and even the Constitution. Christian kids are not allowed to mention their religion or wear any symbols of it while Muslim kids are permitted to dress in their traditional garb and have seperate prayer rooms and prayer times.

California's Governator, Arnold Schwartzenneger, had made it clear that he will not allow the persecution of home school parents. He refuses to sign the bill into law because it violates the Constitution of both the state and the country. It's the first truly conservative thing he's done in awhile and I applaud him for it!

On Fox News Network this morning ("Kelly's Court") it was debated by a lib/dem activist and a Republican. The lib/dem insisted that home schooling wasn't acceptable because the homeschooled kids didn't get exposed to all the extra things that public school children get. She said that the teachers could do a better job of educating children than their own parents, and that unless the parents were able (and willing) to pay $10,0000.000 for "accreditation" they should not be allowed to teach. The Republican countered with the fact that paying $10,000.00 wasn't going to change the homeschool cirriculum or the parents ability to teach their children. It was just money for the state to waste. He also pointed out that homeschooled kids got 40% better scores on the state tests than the kids who attended the "public indoctrination centers."

It seems to me that it's something of a money game. The schools want the extra $60,000 per year per student and don't give a rats behind about the quality of education. Paying $10,000 to be allowed to teach your own kids is nothing short of state-sponsored extortion! Maybe it's also just a tiny bit political, too... Kids taught at home grow up with the same values their parents have, while those in the public school system are steeped in liberal "values" and grow up to believe whatever the lib/dem agenda is.

Parental rights should be protected, folks. Freedom of religion should be protected, too. And history shouldn't be rewritten to please anyone or to keep from offending anyone.
