I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. Will Obama's Publicity Tour Make Any Difference?

July 26th 2008 21:44
Now that "rock star" Barack Obama is headed home from his adventures overseas, I wonder how he'll be received by Americans? He was very popular in Germany, France, England and drew big crowds, about like a Madonna tour might do... or maybe the numbers were equal to Michael Jacksoons last European vacation. David Hasselhoff gets pretty big crowds, too, I hear.

He made speeches everywhere and managed to answer very few questions. But what questions could a crowd of Europeans want to ask a US Senator? He did act quite "presidential" in all the photo-ops with heads of state. But since there was no photo-op with our wounded troops in Germany, he took a break and worked out instead of visiting them. The he lied about the Pentagon asking him to cancel the visit.

In Iraq and Afghanistan he ignored most of the military personnel who waited to skahe his hand while getting plenty of pictures with commanding officers and dignitaries, including the Iraqi president.

Whatever the impression he may have left there or brought home to voters, two things are pretty clear to me, folks. One is that he wants to be president of the world and two is that he has a really cool photo album now.

Let's see. A slick talkin' walkin' epitome of America Yuppiedom makes a big splash in Berlin and Paris. Nice crowds -- but how many of them can vote for him? Maybe a few thousand overseas registered Dems?

McCain plods through key states like Ohio and quietly picks up VOTES, whereas Obama casually admits his poll ratings dipped.

This is getting too easy to figure out where this is going to end: McCain in the WH and the Big O playing the loyal opposition on the Hill.

S.L. THis is eye-ball rolling time. Great post.

Thank you, Anonymous! Have you noticed that all American celebrities get big crowds in Europe! Maybe Barack should learn to sing... in French!

S.L. I know the big Rock Star has come home, I just wish he had decided to stay over there, it would be in our best interest if he had.

If he loses the election, Lester, maybe he'll remember who the voters were that he should have impressed. LOL It is too bad he didn't stay, but they would have gotten sick of his waffling eventually, too and he'd have wanted to come home.

Wow, lookit all them prospective German/Euro voters. In the meantime McCain was out getting German AMERICAN votes in a state where it always seems to count lately: Ohio.

I hope the Pentagon gets its pound and a half flesh plus interest from Obama for this junket when the price of plane fuel has skyrocketed. And I hope to hell a lot of Americans flying this summer and seeing reports on the tube that seventy five percent of their ticket went to buy the plane's fuel will remember Obama's junket on election day.

Too bad they won't be able to collect frequent voter vouchers. (That only happened in the old days of Curley in Boston, Daley in Chicago and Florida 2000.)

If Al Gore and Obama had any brains, in each of their respective elections, they'd have remembered a REAL Democrat's solid advice that "All politics is local," Al Gore would've shored up TN (which would've made FL moot) and Obama wouldn't be doing his "Ich bin ein JFK impersonator" schtick.

Ich bin ein tired writer.

And here I thought Barack Obama said he couldn't speak any foreign languages! He's proven himself quite able to sound like a pompous jerk in every language he's tried so far!

Thanks for the comment Anonymous. Ich bin auch mude. Er macht mich krank.
