I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

Does the Punishment Fit the Crime?

March 30th 2008 21:06
Two young gang members, illegal aliens, were arrested for assault with a gun and pleaded guilty. What did the judge do? Did he sentence them to the two years prescribed by law? Oh, hell no! He released them and told them to learn English, get GED's, get jobs and come back in a year. Now, if a natural born American committed the same crime, he would have thrown the book at them, wouldn't he? Of course he would have.

Why couldn't he have sent them to jail, made them learn English and get GED's while behind bars so that they would have something better when they get out of jail. Or... he could have done something really unique and different. He could have given them their sentences and arranged for them to be deported as soon as their time was up. Apparently "His Honor" doesn't understand that illegal criminals are still ILLEGAL!! So what happens now, they're free to continue their gang activities and commit more crimes for another year. It really sounds like gun-wielding gang members are gonna go straight because some judge gave them a gentle spat on the wrist and said "No, no!"

When people commit a crime by coming here illegally in the first place, why should we let them get away with the already committed crimes and give them the chance to do more wrongs? What, exactly, do we owe them?

Isn't it great when we have politicians like Nasty Pelosi who are determined to find new ways to grant amnesty to more illegals and judges that are not willing to sentence illegal alien criminals fairly? Sort of like the "sanctuary cities" ...

Its getting to be a serious problem when our jurists and lawmakers don't care about our laws.

Shouldn't we all, as citizens, act together and collectively purge the system?

Don't blow a gasket, Jake! The news fries my bacon, too, that's why I keep talking about it.
