My Brand New Neighbor
November 19th 2008 19:25
I just met a new neighbor of mine. there's a low-income complex near my home and I was looking for my dog when I met this man. He has been on disability all his life, thanks to a car accident when he was a baby. I suspect he voted for B.O. in the hopes that the freebies would grow.
We talked for several minutes and I asked him if he and his family were doing well on the disability and welfare they recieve. He started to gripe about how Pres. Bush had always been for the rich. I asked him if he'd ever worked for a living. He said, yes a couple of times, briefly.
"So who hired you?" I asked calmly. "Was it a guy who owned a business or someone on welfare?"
"A guy who owned a business!" he replied, giving me a funny look.
"Trickle down economics works, doesn't it?" I asked with an innocent smile.
"When you put it like that, yeah, I guess it does..." he said with half a smile.
"So, tell me, you get welfare for your kids and disability for yourself and your wife, right?"
He nodded in agreement.
"So basically, the government gives you a fish every day? And you'll never have more than that one fish every day, right?"
He thought about it for a moment (this guy is no dummy, once he lets his brain work.) and replied, "Well, yeah. We get what they give us. Can't do better than that!" he laughed.
"How about more education?" I wondered aloud. "What if you could learn to do something new that you're able to do? Would you be willing to work for a living and have more than one fish every day?"
"I got offered a chance to go to school and learn computers. But the economy so bad... maybe it wouldn't do me any good..." he hesitated.
"Bill Gates started with computers... He did pretty well, didn't he?" I asked. "What if you could learn to use computers and make a good living for your family?"
"I guess we might be doing better than we are now..."
"Do you want to sit around forever and have the government pay your way, keeping you down and broke? Or would you rather be able to get a job and support your family. Maybe buy a car and a home of your own someday?" I had to ask.
"Hell yes! I'd like to be able to bring home a paycheck like everybody else and raise my kids better!"
"Then take some classes, learn some new things, and stop voting for people who want to keep you down!" I laughed.
"You gave me something to think about... thank you..." he said softly as he walked away.
You see, folks, when people understand what's going on with all the government freebies, is just the forward motion of a huge lie, they don't like it much. Nobody wants to spend their whole lives going without so they can continue to vote for the people who keep them down. This guy doesn't want someone to hand him one fish every day and tell him to feed his family. He wants to be a man and support his wife and kids. He wants to learn to fish for himself and be the provider for his family.
It's not complicated at all, if you use your brains. There are still possibilities out there, not welfare and disability as your only options. You don't have to stay on the bottom rung of the ladder unless you want to. Don't let the Democrat lies fool you. Don't believe that you can't succeed without their "help" because you can still have the American dream of opportunity and possibilities. B.O. isn't going to save you by keeping you down and scratching. You can lift yourselves out of poverty and make something of your lives if you want to.

Is Why
It really is that easy to understand economics when a common language is used.
Well done.
