Didn't I Read Something About Freedom of Speech?
February 15th 2009 20:00
I think I must have dreamed about freedom of speech, folks, because there doesn't seem to be much of it in the real world these days. Or maybe I'm just having "flash backs" of the Constitution...
Nazi's can march through Jewish neighborhoods because they have a "right" to free speech but the KKK can't hold their rallies in black neighborhoods. What's the difference between one hate group and another? Liberalism.
Muslims can incite insurrection from their mosques, but Christians are criticized for using the Bible in their sermons. What's the problem? Liberalism.
Code pink can park their sorry tails near President Bush's home in Crawford, TX and wave signs at him, screaming insults. Peaceful abortion protesters go to jail for praying and carrying signs that offer alternatives to infanticide. The difference is... liberalism.
In California you can get a prescription for marijuana from a quack "doctor" and light up wherever you want. But someone can be ticketed and fined for smoking a legal tobacco cigarette outdoors, in the wind. Liberalism rears its ugly head again.
Screaming crowds of protesters can burn the American flag while we are at war and it's freedom of speech. Christmas decorations that depict anything to do with the real meaning of Christmas are forbidden because they might "offend someone." Liberalism strikes again.
So, tell me, where can I go to sign up as being "offended" and will it do me any good? Only liberals and Muslims can be offended these days, folks. The rest of us can shut up (the only right remaining being the right to remain silent, apparently) and deal with it. This is NOT what the Founding Fathers meant by freedom of speech!
Arresting a pastor for having the nerve to be publicly pro-life is an obscenity of the highest (or lowest) order.
