Reno Rapist/Killer
February 17th 2008 15:29
A nineteen year old co-ed named Brianna was found dead a few days ago. She was kidnapped from a couch while visiting friends. How nobody in the house heard anything during the abduction is a mystery. Forensic evidence has proved a link between the murder and a serial rapist. They have his DNA, but not his name. Hopefully, someone will turn him in before he strikes again.
We are living in a thrill-based society, folks. Obnoxious music, violent video games and movies, new designer drugs all help build the lack of empathy that seems to drive some segments of our population. We are not alone in this problem, either. Brutality and bloodsports are the most popular entertainment among the younger people. It's not a good trend...
As God and religion (except for Islam, of course) are booted out of the public arena, we can expect even more such tragedies. No moral teaching is permitted in our public schools (indoctrination centers) these days. Psychology insists that "nothing is ever really wrong" and helps criminals get away with all sorts of terrible crimes. Nobody is expected to take responsibility for their actions, blaming society and others is the new way. School shootings, rapes and murders are rampant, innocent victims are dead, and the killers who survive are either given life (by making a deal) or death (which can take more than twenty years to accomplish). With the addition of forensic science to our investigations, the likelihood of executing an innocent person is getting less all the time. Moratoriums on the death penalty are not helping. Justice is something that should be swift and sure, not filled with "maybe's" and empathy for a criminal who had none for his victims.
This is Sunday. I'll say a prayer for Brianna, her family, and all the other victims that our society seems determined to ignore while protecting the criminals. I found a new Orble site that seems to represent God in all the confusion of these times. www.hiddeneternaltreasures.com Check it out if you want to know what the Bible has to say about our modern world and how to deal with it.
I heard an interesting question some years ago. "If you don't feel close to God anymore, who moved?" Think about it.
