I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

Do I Smell Smoke?

September 8th 2010 18:51
I keep hearing about a pastor planning to burn Korans in honor of 9/11. My first thought is that book burning is wrong. On the other hand, flag burning is equally wrong and considered to be "political freedom of speech" when exercised by certain groups or individuals. At least that's what our PC laws say.

Let's see if I understand... Burning the American flag is acceptable since it's the symbol or freedom, right? But burning the Koran (which is anything BUT a symbol of freedom) is wrong? Perhaps it's because there is no freedom whatsoever involved in the Koran (or in Islam) that we have to protect it? We should be as careful to protect and defend the Koran as those charming 9/11 monsters were towards American people. Maybe we should just burn 3000 of them. You know, one for every victim of 9/11. Sounds fair to me. Every one of the high jackers believed in the Koran and followed it. They all screamed to allah as they were murdering innocent people, didn't they? The excuse for every terrorist is that the Koran told him to kill. Excuse me, but if a book is the excuse and/or inspiration for these despicable monsters, burning it seems like a perfectly rational response. Kissing terrorist butts doesn't. Bending over backwards to keep from offending the most easily offended people on Earth is getting a little tiring, don't you think?

Accommodating people is becoming a very bad (and dangerous) habit, folks. It doesn't make much difference what is right or wrong these days. It's all about who will be offended. Displaying the American flag is forbidden when some low-life complains that it offends them. Christmas displays have to be hidden or removed to keep from offending anyone. The Ten Commandments is not allowed to be seen in public. People are forbidden to say prayers in the proximity of abortion "clinics" or public buildings. I could go on, but you get the idea, I'm sure.

There was a time, not all that long ago, either, when Americans would have laughed at anyone who demanded that we give up our beliefs and traditions in order to please anyone. There was a time when our laws trumped all others and bowing to shariah law would have been considered ridiculous. Does anyone believe for one second that we'd have supported a kamikaze shrine beside the Arizona Memorial? So what's wrong with us now? We're not objecting (very much) to a monument to the 19 murderers of 9/11 fame. We call it freedom when some jerk burns an American flag, but get all fired up when someone plans to burn a bunch of Korans.

Tell you what, folks. When Muslims (and all other lunatics) start respecting my country and the rights of Americans to our religions, our history, our patriotism and our flag, I'll start to give a rats behind about the Koran and offending terrorists.

(No, I'm not the one lumping all Muslims into the terrorist category). Everyone who is objecting to burning Korans with the excuse that it might make them angry, is calling them all terrorists. Fear speaks when reason fails, I guess. Funny how the PC crowd are so terrified of offending Muslims for fear of what they might do while insulting and denigrating Christianity as loudly as possible. Our idiotic government seems to consider American Christians a bigger terrorist threat than Muslim terrorists, but whose butt do the constantly kiss? Think about it.

I think I'll go and get a bag of marshmallows, they're so good when toasted.

Hey SL…
Before 9/11, I when I thought of the Middle East, I thought of “the thief of Bagdad”, “the sheik of ‘Arabie’”, The Road to Zanzibar, desert, pyramids, mysterious women with magnificent navels, etc.; but never Islamic beliefs or their “holy” book. September 11, 2001 changed a lot of things. The mosque at ground zero is legally right, morally wrong. Mr. Jones’ planned book burning is also legally right, morally wrong. I feel there are a disproportionately high number of religious fanatics professing Islam when compared to those who profess Christianity or Judaism … some jihadists probably do not even know who they are yet. I also feel any religious fanatic is dangerous to the world around whether he worships in a mosque or in the Baptist Church just down the street. A religious fanatic waving a Bible in my face is just as evil as a religious fanatic waving a Quran in my face. Both spew hate and create fear as a weapon. Frankly, I would never trust a Muslim but I do trust many of the Christians I meet.

And, if it was not for the left leaning, headline grabbing, immoral national media this whole thing would be a non-issue. Mr. Jones has gotten what he wanted, his fifteen minutes of fame, now it is time for him to stand down, not because he has the right to burn, but because not burning is the right thing to do … for now.

I have found that marshmallows do well over the kitchen stove. It is a much more controllable heat source.

I think I'll save the marshmallows until it's time to burn a pile of leaves. Makes a better bonfire than books, anyway, LOL.

S.L. I don't see what the big deal is, and would it be the same reaction if it were bibles they were going to burn. I don't think our government or generals would be speaking out if it were bibles the terrorist was burning, that would be consider freedom of expression.

No one cares when they burn the American Flag, or desecrate symbols of Christianity, so whats the big deal here. This is nothing but fear caused by the Islamic terrorist, they are afraid of what these murderers will do next. They know they will kill men, women, and children, and dance in the streets afterward.

If this Pastor wants to remember 9/11 with a Koran burning I say go ahead, he is entitled to commemorate the horrific attacks in his own way as long as he doesn't hurt anyone.

They say this will endanger American troops, they are already in danger its not rubber bullets that being shot at them right now. The Islamic terrorist doesn't need a reason to kill just look at 9/11/01, and all the acts of murders before that.

I am with you burn one koran for every person thats been killed by Islamic terrorist, I don't know if there is enough korans for that bond fire.

Some would compare the religions, and say there is not difference between them both spue hate. I wonder how that works, lets see.

Islam fly planes into buildings and kills thousands of innocent people.

They drive small boats into ships that's not at war with them and kill innocent people.

They place roadside bombs to kill our troops.

They behead people that don't submit to their religion.

They stone people for adultery.

If a woman is raped she is whipped with many strips.

If a woman is suspected of infidelity she is killed.

They blow themselves up in crowded places.

They set car bombs off to kill as many as they can.

Opposed to Christianity which says if you sin you should repent or go to hell, Christians take no part in sending you to hell opposed to Islam which if you don't do as they say they will give you the first step in going and that is death. Christians may wave bibles, but Islam waves weapons.

S.L. I could go on and on, but everyone should get the point, It's time we stand up for our Country while we still have one to stand up for. This is a Christian Nation and it should get back to being one. I say burn everything that takes away our freedoms, and freedom of religion.

I agree, Lester. The whole mission of islam is to either control or kill everyone else. The more we kiss up and make nice weaker and more foolish we appear. Muslims don't need any excuse but the words in their koran to start a killing spree. You make a good point about Christians firing off prayers and holding up Bibles while muslims fire off deadly weapons and use human shields. There's a pretty clear difference between the two!

The problem is that we hang in a very delicate balance amidst muslim countries. As American troops sweat and die in Muslim deserts, it's hardly fair to them to sit safely home taunting Muslims. Koran burning is a wreckless disregard to the difficulties American troops already face. By aggrivating the situation in the Middle East, we create recruiting tools for violent extremists, anti-American sentiment and increased violence. But Americans at home don't have to face those consequences, so when we burn books, point and laugh, we only do so from between an American soldier. In conclusion, as an act of patriotic support for our troops and reguard for their difficult jobs, I discourage Quaran burning.

Hello Anonymous. I have 2 grand nephews in the Army and they have made repeated trips to the war zone. In fact, they're both being deployed again, soon. My grand daughter is a Marine, as well. So, as you can see, I have boundless love and respect for our troops, especially those in harm's way.

Not during any other war in our history have we been asked or expected to be sensitive to the feelings of our enemies. Islam is dedicated to our destruction! And some people want us to make nice with them? I can imagine my parents (of the Greatest Generation) being asked to be considerate of Nazi's, Imperial Japan and Italian fascists. They'd have had a good laugh!

I am NOT suggesting that we attack (in any way, shape or form) the regular Muslims (until they give us a reason to). But I absolutely refuse to call it a "religion of peace", for it is neither a religion nor peaceful. Not because I fear that it might tick them off and make them angry, either. They're already angry! They're already attacking innocents, so it makes very little difference what we say or do, they will continue to hate us and commit crimes against freedom. I mean, seriously, B.O. (B.S.) and his muslim butt kissing hasn't made them nicer, has it?
