I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. Shall We Debate?

January 16th 2008 13:33
I had a nightmare last night. It was like a huge train station and there were large groups of heavily covered women standing around, crying. When I found one that could speak English, I asked her what was wrong. She told me that she was in "heaven" and waiting for the next suicide bomber to win her and the rest of her group as his "reward" for killing infidels. I asked her why, if she was in heaven, she was crying. She shook her head sadly and told me she had always been a good Muslim and done everything right. She should have been proud to have died in a car bombing that killed her mother and sisters, too. But she just couldn't stop crying.

Well, that's when I woke up, folks!

It has been suggested that I should agree to a debate with Damo on the subject of Islam. After that terrible dream... all right. Bring it on, Damo. Explain my dream to me.

Doesn't look like any of the jerks want to debate with you, SL. What I don't get, is if muslims get all those virgins, what are they supposed to do with them? Are they supposed to respect and protect them? Or be able to rape them forever. If that's the case, no wonder you dreamed about the dead women crying. That isn't much of an idea of heaven, is it? Maybe if the muslim assholes that kill to claim their virgiuns were told that their heaven would be big gay guys named Bubba they wouldn't like it so much!

Don Lee are you a member of Orble? You act like one, but Jon says you aren't registered, how is that possible?

Damo will likely accept your challenge SL.

My wife writes for orble. When I have time, I look at her blogs and several others and make comments. If you have a problem with that, tough luck. Last I heard this was stil a free country. Sort of like you don't have to give your name. I give mine because I'm proud of what I stand for. And SL makes a helluva lot more sense than some of the others around here.

I have always been ready for a proper debate SLB.

Yet I do not interpret dreams.

Islam is a big subject so lets cut it down to specifics.
What aspect of Islam do you wish to debate?
It will be a very short and boring debate if it about your dream.

I will proceed to find an independent referee and blog site to hold this debate so that neither of us can complain about bias.

My question has always been about bigotry, yet even that is a big subject.

I think that we should let others suggest the questions that they think we should be debating as that would be more objective than leading questions based upon vague dreams.

Don't you agree?

O.K. Damo. My first question for you is where do the multitude of virgins come from to reward those jolly gents who murder others in the name of Islam?

If you can be civil, we shouldn't require an independent moderator, should we? And since your friends continually asked me to debate you, we should do it here on my blog. My friends have enough integrity to either stay out of it or be polite. Do yours?

This story is a bit long but it has a point.

A few days afer Sept 11, I had to fly.

At the Gate a Muslim man was saying his prayers. Everyone was freaking, thinkng he was saying them because he was about to comit suicide and take us all with him, including myself.

I decided if i was going to die, i would meet my maker and walked up to him. I opened the conversation by asking him about his prayers; if he was afraid of flying like me, or if he was saying them because it was sundown. Sundown was the answer and we got to talking, so much so he swapped seats to sit next to me on the flight (YES I TOOK THE AILSE seat so I could block him if he tried to attack the hostess)

Halfway through the flight I confessed to him that I thought he was a terrorist due to him being a Muslim, as it turned out he was an Ambassador for the United Nations, I couldnt have been more wrong.

He explained something very important to me, and to this day I carry it with me.

he told me suicide bombers are not true Muslims, they claim to be, but the whole Virgin thing is not part of the true Muslim religion. It is something Islamic Fundamentalsts have decided exists to recruit warriors. or so i am told.

This guy told me the essence of the Muslim religion is peaceful.

I walked off the plane very ashamed of myself but at the same time enlightened. I told him Muslims needed to clean up the PR perception but I guess this is easier said than done.

Anyhow, that is my experience.

I don't think there is any debate that could not agree that Islamic Fundamentalists are completely out of order, but i think you'll find most Muslims would back you on that one too.

When I said REFEREED DEBATE I meant it.

This is not a debate but an organized Sledging session worthy only of school girls.

I have boycotted you site for over twelve months and have only broken that boycott to ensure that you debate like an adult.

Agree to the REFEREED DEBATE like an adult or throw the towel in.

I will not comment further on site that I have boycotted until you make up you mind whether you are an adult or just some petty school girl.

Rule one : Neutral site
Rule two: Independent Referee and adjudicator.
Rule three: Real questions not Question that presuppose the answer in the asking.

Let's see if you have the metal of your words or not.

Conversation is over.

Thanks for the insight, Louie. Misperceptions are easy to come by, I know. But the fact that "most Muslims" don't try to change the perceptions says a lot. Either they are afraid of the radicals or they don't really object to the portrayal of them as terrorists (until someone points it out to them!) If the terrorists are using the Koran or Shariah Law as their excuse, it's on them. And they aren't doing any favors for the "peaceful" Mulslims in the process.

As for you, Damo. If you want to grow up and do an honest debate, come on. If you're man enough (and sure enough of your ground) you can debate with me right here. There will be plenty of people reading what we say. Some, I'm sure, will be on each side to keep the comments divided. Maybe your problem is just that you know you have no ground to stand on and don't want to make a public scene of your failing arguments. I'm willing to listen to your defense of terrorists as long as you're willing to listen to my objections to them. If anyone else has something to say, they're welcome to do so. I will not call you names except in self defense and I am able to have an adult discussion. If you think you're able to do the same, we can debate right here. If not, apparently you're conceeding defeat and I'll appreciate not hearing from any of your toadies about how I'm the one who won't debate you.

Fair enough?

In the arena of wit, never arrive half armed SL, it's unseemly.

The problem in this case is that you don't get what the heart of the debate is about, your rigid thinking is your enemy SL and has clouded you reasoning under a veil of emotions.

Damo has been consistently clear about issues:

Substantiate and verify your sources,
Be accountable for your speech, and
stand ready to be held accountable for misspeaking.

He is not defending terrorists, he is opposing the hateful diatribes that you set loose on several occasions that weren't well thought out.

The following remarks are inflammatory:
If you want to grow up..,
If you're man enough...,
...your problem is...,
and
If not, apparently you're conceeding defeat and I'll appreciate not hearing from any of your toadies about how I'm the one who won't debate you.

and indicates to me, ANON, that you're rationalizing away the possible defeat of your arguments in an open debate. It doesn't wash.

Wash whatever you'd like, Anon. My "hateful diatribes" are directed at the terrorists, which anyone with a brain can see. If he takes offense at my dislike of the cowardly murderers, then he can explain why he is in favor of them. Wasn't that the basis of the debate? I thought it was...

My comments and opinions don't require links to anything, Anon. The incidents I cite are all over the news. Do you honestly think anyone needs a "link" to prove that a bombing happened when they can turn on their TV and see it? And if you think he doesn't have to defend his support of terrorists, think again. If he doesn't approve of what they do, why does he get so offended when I complain about what they're doing?

I'm not afraid of losing a debate with Damo. He can debate me here or he can .... well, you get it... right?

I'm betting Don Lee is S.L.'s husband. Any takers?

Louie, that's a great story.

Here's an interesting phenomenon:
My friends have enough integrity to either stay out of it or be polite. Do yours?

..and the evidence is right here, folks:

I met a guy once, he was begging for change in a truck stop. Said his name was John Doe. What a pathetic, total loss he was. Like the John Doe that just wrote here.
--Don Lee

"..it's weirdos like these (D armenta, among a few other morons) that really take away from the democrat party."
--Lorna Bayton

"SL, I went to see what the armenta skank says on her site asnd she had one bashing you. They said that Don Lee and I arent real and her scummy basterd friends agreed with her that she wasnt too hard on you. I read alot of these blogs before I said anything and she was wrong as hell."
--Griz Shayne, USN ret.

Hmmmm, Bradish...your husband and your botfriends don't seem very polite to me. I can find lots more examples, if you like--including the hilarious one where you told me to get a sex change, hahahaha!!!

Bradish, seriously; do you know formal debate procedure? You should do a little research on that. In a formal debate, an impartial mediator must be chosen by both parties, for starters.

D. Armenta

P.S.--That's pretty funny--you using the word "toadies" against Damo. I wonder where you picked that up?? Hmm!
Only a short time ago you thought that "toadies" referred to amphibians.

Just as a pure observation, I don't think SL Bradish is in any way saying that she started any of this name calling nonsense - we can all read and know that it was brought from certain left extremists who continually come here to rant. Don't worry, no one is taking the bully status from you. rest assured.

Oh, and there are many orble members that read but don't choose to have their url posted here for the simple fact that we don't want trash like this on our sites. I for one wouldn't want name calling and utter nastiness on my posts.

Thanks for the back-up, Gerry and orble member. It's nice to know someone is paying attention. D Anon must think everyone else is as ignorant as she is, or assumes that no one will remember the nasty things she says, only the rebuttals.

As for who my husband is, D Anon, it's none of your business. However, to follow your "brilliant logic" I guess anyone who comes to my blog (other than to bash me, of course) must be either my husband or a bot, right? Newsflash for D R Mented...! If your foolish idea were correct, I would not only have several husbands, but a number of wives as well. And, last I heard, that's illegal. lmao

And, Damo? If you want to debate (without the usual name calling), by all means. I have opened the door for you. My position is that I hate Muslim terrorists because they're evil and they kill innocent people. Now, by all means, state your position and begin the debate or shut up.

Good point, Bradish. Judging from the tone of response from you and your imaginary botfriends, you're not old enough to be married yet. Maybe when you get to grade 7 or so.

What will your comeback be to this? "nyahh nyahh nyahh, you're a stinkhead!", perhaps?

Waiting in breathless anticipation for your next intellectual and incisive zinger,

Yes, folks, Bradish has resurrected an old chestnut from gradeschool days, the classic "Mother" reference known and used ad nauseam by 8-year-olds the world over.

Exciting match! Nothing compared to the much-anticipated debate with Damo, though. You two set a date yet?

Just in passing..I comment without logging in because I'll be damned if you're getting any of my karma points. You'll note I always sign my name though---

Hi S.L.,
Allow me to introduce myself I am known as the jazzman within Orble I have a site and am registered, I have approached Jon to enquire if he has any objections for me to be a referee to a debate , he has none in fact he is prepared to advertise such, providing both sides are agreeable to it and if both sides will agree to the terms.

Now I am prepared to remain neutral also will adjudicate on any matter that is not within the term of debating and shall take no part whatsoever in the material used except to see that all is fair on both sides.

I am the product of a mixed marriage where my Father being Islamic and my mother Christian so I do understand both cultures, I also have a degree in Contemporary Education and spent most of my working life with the Public Service in a category that was involved in the type of subject you have chosen to debate so I am now making myself available - the rest is up to both you and Damo or you may choose another person I have no hangup with that, I have offered my services and it will be done properly just get back to me at www.orble.com/jazzman/

Another point I neglected to place forward is that I would not be prepared to overlook paltry name calling, dorgatory remarks, threats, bad language or religious insults is it not needed to be hateful either on both sides if you both are prepared to adhere to this we may be able to place grond rule for the debate
