I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

Michael Coren

O.K., I admit it. I'm a Michael Coren fan. He writes for the Toronto Sun and I'm lucky enough to have a friend who sends me copies of the paper and Coren columns. The one today is very note worthy, indeed! He has nailed the abortion issue clearly and concisely for what it really is. Here's an excerpt:

"Praise the, well, praise public funding -- the CBC has reported that abortion might not be a universal blessing and that the whole discussion is not quite as banal as merely being about a woman's right to choose.

Okay, they didn't exactly word it in that way and they may have shot themselves in the foot, but their story last week was extraordinarily revealing. They revealed that advertisements in two Canadian Punjabi newspapers were promoting ultrasound clinics in the United States where, "You are told the sex (of the baby) immediately."

The implication of this, the story continued, was that "female fetuses" would be aborted. The article then quoted a community activist who said that this was "really, really sad."

But just hold on one little Canadian moment. In this country abortion is legal (theoretically, up to the ninth month) and always paid for by public tax dollars. In fact, it's one of the few elective surgeries never touched by the government, when hospitals and essential medical care are under threat and cut back.

The leaders of the abortion industry receive Orders of Canada and honorary doctorates and are lionized as national heroes. They remove excess tissue so that women can be free and it has nothing to do with life or children."

The article goes on to suggest that the issue is more involved with "women's rights" than it seems. He said (above) that more female fetuses would be likely targets (since boys appear to be the desired off-spring). So, where are all the womens rights activists? Don't they care about girls being killed because of their sex? Or do they just love the cash cow that the abortion industry has become?

If the gender can be determined with an ultra-sound, the child must be human, right? You can see the features and know what the baby will look like (or whom), also proving it's a real person. The heartbeat can be easily hear very early in the pregnancy, too. The more science advances, the more the falacy of "unviable lump of tissue" is proven.

Michael Coren got it right! Check out his column in the Toronto Sun or read his books.

I try to read Coren every day. Sometimes it just isn't possible. However, what he writes usually makes sense and a lot of people disagree with him. I know I have at times. That doesn't take away anything from his jouranlistic prowess. It wakes me up and makes me see another point of view. For that, I'll be forever grateful.
