Constitutionally Speaking
August 2nd 2010 17:51
Last night I read the United States Constitution in one sitting. It isn't very long, but the wording makes it's point and purpose quite clear. If you haven't read it yet, I urge you to do so, before the next election.
It's amazing that all the signers managed to read it before signing it (unlike the bills that get crammed down our throats these days, unread). Of course it is quite brief and to the point. Even readable for someone without a law degree! Imagine that! The Founding Fathers intended for everyone to be able to read and understand the Constitution! Wow! Today, even the politicians who support the bills don't have time to read them, or a battery of lawyers to explain them! So they just shrug their collective shoulders and pass the garbage without a second thought for the consequences.
Even a supposed Constitutional scholar like B.O. (B.S.) pretends to be, should be able to read and understand the words. Instead he considers it a "fundamentally flawed document" and bewails the fact that it is mostly comprised of things the government CAN'T do. It isn't supposed to be a freebie government in the first place. It provides protection and opportunity for the citizens, not goodies with which to buy votes. How have we managed to go from a Constitution that basically co-ordinates the states to one that controls them? Is it because our "fearless leaders" have misunderstood the meaning of the Constitution? Perhaps they don't like the fact that it was printed in English and not fifty other languages? Or maybe they just don't think the citizens or the states are as smart as they are...?
I have a feeling the last one is correct. Let's see... the Constitution did a pretty good job of delineating the federal government's obligations and the president's duties and the congressional responsibilities. In fact it worked so well that we were once prosperous and lead the world in every way. Then those who failed to abide by the founder's laws found sneaky little ways to alter the meaning of everything to suit their own ends. For example, in no way, shape or form does the right of privacy have anything to do with abortion. It is, however expressly forbidden to use "cruel or unusual punishment" which is a very good definition for the slaughter of innocents for the crime of existing, don't ya think? And the second amendment clearly specifies that BOTH a militia and armed citizens are expected to exist. (With no apologies to Hillary, the UN or any gun control "treaty" she signs). It specifies that no religion shall be forced on us or forbidden. Period. There is NO SEPARATION of church and state as the term is now used! One comment, made in a letter, does NOT create a law, folks.
We need to get rid of everything that isn't in the Constitution and prosecute every politician who has violated it for treason. Violating the oath of office is listed as an impeachable offense. The rights of the states have been usurped to a disgraceful degree and should be returned to the jurisdiction where they belong. What have we been thinking to allow these things to happen? Are we going to sit back and collect our entitlements while the whole country falls apart? Who will pay us then?
I can't speak for anyone else, but my vote isn't for sale and I don't want their blasted freebies. I want my country back! It used to be the land of the free and the home of the brave. Now it's turned into the land of the freebie and the home of the knaves.
