Getting Involved...
February 23rd 2008 20:28
I got a call today from a friend of mine who lives in another state. They have a murder mystery going on about a rapist/killer. My friend's daughter works with a woman who thinks she might know the killer, but doesn't want to get involved. She was going over all the details that are known about the monster and says she knows a man who fits them all. In fact, he's been acting strangely since the last victim went missing. The woman thinks it's interesting, but she's unwilling to "get involved" just in case she's wrong. She wouldn't want to be "embarrassed," she said. Lets call the woman Mrs. X for now.
My friends daughter (a serious liberal and Hillary supporter) told her mom about it, including the details of the similarities between the rapist/killer and the man her friend knows. My friend insisted that her daughter call the police... after all if the man is innocent, his DNA will prove it and if he's guilty, he'll be caught before he kills again. Her daughter wasn't willing to get "involved" either. She believes that everyone makes "choices" and doesn't "choose" to act on the information, citing the fact that there are probably lots of guys who fit the picture. My friend called the police and told them what she had heard. No matter how it turns out, she can be proud of the fact that she cared enough to do something! Caring alone isn't enough, folks. When action is needed, it must be taken!
Did I forget to mention that the man in question is Mrs. X's son in law and the father of her grandchildren?
I'll do a follow up if anything comes of it. Let's hope the monster gets caught before he rapes or kills again!
