I am highly opinionated with a firm grip on the difference between right and wrong. I pay more attention to the candidates and the issues than to precise party lines. My facts are just that... FACTS- and my opinions are MY opinions- Regardless of what the subject, you can always find a good read on my blog, I write about various issues and not everything is focused on the subject of politics. I hope you enjoy!

Click It or Ticket

May 24th 2007 01:52
That's the new slogan in Nevada, folks. Click it or ticket. Right. The manditory seat belt law was defeated in the State Assembly last week. We are NOT legally forced to wear seat belts. Right. Then we have the "Click it or Ticket" campaign where you can be pulled over and given a $67.00 ticket if your seat belt isn't on. It should be one way or the other, shouldn't it? We're not mandated to wear the things, but we get a ticket if we don't. Hard as I try, I don't find any logic in it. Either we do have to wear them or we don't. Can't have it both ways... Many, many years ago something similar happened in Calif. In Butte County, cable TV was put before the voters. It was way back when regular channels were the norm and cable was brand new. The voters spoke loud and clear. No manditory cable! By the following month, all the transmitters for regular TV were blocked and if you didn't have cable you didn't watch TV at all. Sort of makes you wonder why they bother to take a vote, doesn't it? Even things people don't want are forced on them anyway.

Does this sound just a bit like the new immigration laws? They're trying to shove it through (finally agreeing to wait until after the Memorial Day weekend to finalize it) without any debate or exposure to the citizens affected. Can they really do that? Yep... remember the IRS...

That really is disgusting. But at least you get to vote before you're ignored. We don't have that opportunity here. When the gov't wants to create a new cash cow, they just ram it through and we have to hold our noses.

SL,

we to have the "Click It Or To=icket" signs out here in California, one good thing is, that they do enforce them!

Great post!

Take care,

Nick
