Mike Huckabee said something on Fox the other day that makes a lot of sense. He usually makes a lot of sense, so I wasn't surprised. It had to do with Barack Obama's fanciful notion of "Spreading the wealth." It sounds quite noble, doesn't it? It sounds like spreading icing all over a cake instead of having just one big glob in the middle of the cake, right? Spreading the wealth... speading the icing... no big problem with that, right? The whole country is like a great big cake and the icing should be evenly distributed, shouldn't it?
Suppose Obama were to tell the truth about what "Spreading the wealth" really means, though? Suppose he looked the American people right in the eye (something he doesn't have a problem with, like most accomplished liars) and said, "You get to work two or three hours a day to pay for someone else so they can sit around and do nothing! Your paycheck will be smaller, but you'll just have to learn to live with it. We want everyone in the country to have the same income and only a select few to have the opportunities to better their positions." If he put it that way, I wonder how many votes he would get on Nov. 4th?
It sounds really cool to play the class-envy card and get people excited about increasing taxes on the "rich", doesn't it? I mean, if you're living from paycheck to paycheck, it sounds like a good idea to shave the fat cats just a bit. They're the winners in "life's lottery," right? Wrong. They didn't spend a dollar and effortlessly come up with big bucks! They worked for their money, folks! They hire other people. The give opportunities for advancement to their employees. Small businesses are the backbone of our economy. Their wealth is already spread around in the form of jobs and benefits (for their employees). Punishing them is not only stupid, it's downright insane!
Obama is finishing his inaugural address. Somehow I doubt that he'll be honest in it and tell the voters how much more of their money he's going to take and spread around. He probably won't mention how he wants us to be the biggest losers in the world, either. But that's what he has in mind, folks. He has every intention of dragging the entire population down to it's lowest possible level. Keep your eye on the new "Misery Index" folks. He'll send us right back to the Carter years.
Voting for Barack Hussein Obama reminds me of a classic movie. "Casablanca". Remember when Humphrey Bogart tells Ingrid Bergman, "You'll regret it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow. But soon, and for the rest of your life."
