Real Hipocrites in Action

There are some "religions" that give the rest of them a bad name. Islamic terrorists make all Muslims look bad, that's a fact. There are a few others who do the same for their churches. Even Christians aren't immune from this phenomenon.
A church pastor was on TV a few days ago, saying that his "congregation" planned to hold a protest at the funeral of actor Heath Ledger. Their complaint was that he was already in hell and didn't deserve the respect of a formal funeral. Obviously they didn't care about Ledgers daughter, parents, siblings or friends. Their assumption that he was evil because he played a gay in a movie and was therefore sent directly to hell is ridiculous, to say the least. These are the same sort of nut cases who stage "events" at the funerals of fallen US military personnel. It's a cruel, vile thing to do and those of us who are sincere in our religion must speak out against this behavior as surely as any honorable Muslim must decry the terrorists. Wrong is wrong, no matter who is doing it.

Nope, if you're an idiot you'll judge all muslims by what terrorists are doing, if you are a fair person you won't. Therefore terrorists do not make all muslims look bad, you choose to percieve it that way.
Just like a fair person does not see all christians as bad just because a few self proclaimed christians are evil.
Lookingbad is all a matter of perspective and it's up to you how you take on that perspective.

That Church and Pastor doesn't know anything about Christianity, because it is not them that gets to judge it is Jesus. We can only look on the outward appearance of a man, but it is God that looks on the Heart.
But S.L. if this radical behavior is not rebuked by Christians, then it does look bad on Christians, as well if the people of the Muslim faith doesn't rebuke radical Islam is looks bad on them as well.

Lester, you're absolutely right. If we don't rebuke or disclaim the evil that is done by those pretending to represent God, we will wear their label. It's the same with Muslims, too. If they don't object to bad behavior, they appear to condone it.

Perhaps the appropriate remark should have been, "..there are some elements in religion that give them all a bad name."

SL after reading a few of your posts it seems that you and Raven share the same basic principles yet argue in comments over terminology and semantics . . . just an observation . . . i wonder if you have noticed any major differences in your morals or politics? (perhaps i am not seeing the whole picture?)

Religious extremism can be a very dangerous thing, true. 9/11 is ample proof.
