Early Morning Surprise
December 1st 2008 15:23
I was up most of the night, which isn't unusual. Talked to a night-owl niece of mine and got the number of one of my grand nephews. I've been trying to get in touch with the two nephews in the Army for some time now. So I called and left a message before taking a short nap. He called me back 20 minutes later. Haven't talked to him since he was in grade school!
I posted a picture of him when he re-enlisted, but I haven't actually seen him. Bet I'm the only little old lady who can say an Army Ranger woke her up this morning! LOL We were hoping to get him to stopp by during the Christmas month, but it doesn't look like it'll happen. His leave is over til next year. After three tours in Iraq, he may be stationed stateside for the next year and we'll have a chance to get together then. His cousin, Andy, is going to Iraq in January and is now in Florida, so we probably won't be seeing him this year, either.
That's what happens when families grow apart and don't keep in touch. Miles and years get in the way and make it difficult to keep up. LGJ will be home in a few days and not get to see her cousins. Well, not those two, but other cousins will come to visit.
Anyway, regardless of politics (we do have a few liberals in the family unfortunately) it's good to stay connected to family members.
God Bless America and God bless the troops! Especially my relatives!!
